Your Lap-Band and Dating....
Well after I lost 70lbs I met the man of my dreams and five months later we got married. Coming up on our 6 month anniversary. When I was dating I would tell the guys and asked if we could share a dish. They didnt mind. But all is well that ended well with me. I think my husband would have loved me if I was still 265lbs but I like me much better under 200 for sure.

HELP...
So you wrote all the things you didnt like about it. Is there anything you do like? It seems now is not the right time for you if you have so many issues that you dont want to deal with. As far as fills go it does not hurt. As far as slippage yeah it happens but not that much. Drinking beer with your friends you would rather stay obese and drink beer. No you are not ready because the things you listed are not that much to give up to be healthy.

2.5 years post op, having horrible pains!!!
You may have gastritis which can do that but I would still call the dr. I wouldnt eat anything spicy or hard to digest. You might need a scope to see if it is gastritis. Thats what it sounds like to me but dont suffer call your doctor.

Just wanna share and see what you have to say to me.
The fact that she says I will "never follow the rules of weight loss surgery" says it all. She does not want to lose weight. She makes every excuse why she cant do it. Like I said I have no pity for someone who states I stay in bed all day and eats cookies and chocolate milk she deserves to stay right where she is. Every answer she gives is an excuse as to why she can not do this or that. Give me a break you all really feel sorry for someone like that. We all had the same surgery and worked to get where we are and not by eating cookies and chocolate milk if she can eat that then she can eat a protein bar. OMG really like I said SMDH for real.

Cookies crumble in your mouth DUH. You have issues really you do. If you can eat cookies which are dry as hell then you can eat some chicken or something. You dont want to and you dont or you would have. It is obvious that you find excuses for every thing that anyone has told you to do. I have back issues also but excersise 4 times a week and lift weights you really need to stop making excuses and either do it or just eat your cookies and chocolate milk.

Just wanna share and see what you have to say to me.
SMDH if you want to eat cookies and chocolate milk then you deserve to stay obese. Really???? you want advise here it is. I dont feel sorry for you because you said you will never follow the rules of wls so therefore you dont deserve any pity. If you are that tight but can eat cookies then something is wrong in your head. If you cant eat real food then you cant eat cookies. Im sorry but you do not deserve pity you deserve a good talking to from your doctor and see if he agrees that if you can eat cookies you can eat food.

9cc's?!
This is my question if you all are newly banded and have that much in your bands already what will happen when you are completely full and cant get another fill and you still have a long way to go to lose. I say less is better just asking.
-
Can anyone offer advice?
with only 63lbs to lose it may not be covered by insurance. Just call them and ask them. Most of the time you have to have a BMI of 35-40 with two or more comorbidities for insurance to pay. Call them they will tell you

No Pre-Op Diet
I didnt do it either was not told to I would say that is a plus for you go out two nights before your surgery and have your farewell dinner thats what I did.
-
My Username Says it All
Well you said a mouthfull but however only you can change your ways. If beer, cheese, pizza, burgers are worth it then by all means continue. If you want the band to work then work with it. Its that simple. We all fail because of food because we are addicted to food if you want success then stop thinking about booze and food and start living what you paid for. Its all or nothing. You cant drink and eat like a sailor and weigh 100lbs it doesnt work that way. Good luck and I hope you find yourself the person that you want to be.

Very Disappointed
I would research also but I would tend to lean towards a professionals opinions and not friends. He could be on to something and it might be the right thing. If you know anyone in the medical field then ask them if they know the doctor.

Am I losing it . . . my mind that is?
I agree you need some socilaization sounds like you have issues with yourself because you are not out and about with other people which is very important. I would consider taking a class at the local college or something small to start to at least get you out of the house. It seems that right now your comfort is food which we all know is not good for us. Hope you find peace in yourself.

Dr. Frank Felts - Word of Caution
First of all why wouldnt she see her surgeon in a year. The first five years post op are important to maintain with your surgeon. I moved and found another surgeon who took me in as a patient all he wanted was my op report and to know I didnt have an complications after surgery. He sees me regularly and is very nice. Everyone will not like their doctors or the care they get for some reason but I think it is also our duty as the patients to remain in contact with our surgeons at least yearly once banded. You need follow up care. If you are not willing to travel to see that surgeon then you need to find one that will follow you and as long as it is after care and not to redo the surgery then most surgeons will take you on as a patient as long as you are not asking them to revise what another has done.

WATER PILLS??
If you have chronic swellin of your legs and have had you need to see a doctor this is not normal and you should really check it out.
-
Help!! I am stuck and cannot get unstuck
I doubt that you are still stuck you are probably swollen if you ate it last night. Dont keep putting food in there drink liquids for a few days.

No restriction at all
Fills are not always what you need. You have to learn the difference between wanting to be stuffed or just comfortable and no longer hungry. I never had a fill for one year and have only had two since. I dont really have restriction I just eat normal portions and only when my stomach is growling not because I think I need to eat. Staying off the scale is another thing you need to avoid. I was a daily wiegher and realized it was more harm than good. Since I stopped weighing myself I can see the difference in my clothing so I dont care anymore what the scale says. As long as my clothes are getting loser then I know I am getting smaller. I eat three meals a day 4 to five hours a part and one protein bar a day to make sure I get all my protein. I cant say that for most of us we really ever knew what being hungry was before now because we never hardly ever let our selves get hungry when we were obese. We ate just to eat and I think now knowing what if feels like to be hungry helps me to not overeat because I really only eat when I am truly hungry.
-
Help! I messed up!
I was and still am scared to eat muffins lol so that deters me from them but we all have bad days just chalk it up as a loss and start over tomorrow.
-
Delayed Restriction question?
I dont understand the delayed reaction because when they fill you the pillows in the band fill immediately and tighten the stomach. Sometimes I think barimetric pressure has a lot to do with it I have been banded for 15 months and I sure know when its going to rain because I become very tight. I dont really think there could be a delayed reaction because that is just my opinion. I am tight from the time I get filled and it eases up over time because with your body heat the saline does evaporate making it easier to eat. I dont agree with the delayed reaction but that is just my opinion.

lap band AND chronic pancreatitis
First of all again I did not assume anything. IF you saw a doctor then WHY ask a medical question when you ALREADY have an answer. I would think that if you need to copy and paste an answer it is not because you were in a hurry but BECAUSE you didnt know the answer either because IF you saw a doctor and IF he told you what to do YOU WOULDNT be coming here asking a medical question but some of you think somehow its easier than seeking medical help to get the answers you need. Secondly I am not full of my self so now you ARE ASSUMING. I in no way was being mean when I posted I told you what you needed to do and that was to go see a doctor. You can say whatever you want about me but arent you just as bad and full of yourself getting all defensive and being demeaning to two people you dont even know. That is the trouble with you oh holier then though people. You come to a forum ask for an opinion and when you dont hear what you want you bash the person answering your question so does that make you any better when you are assuming things of your own that are not true. Yeah most of you need to quit posting because you cant handle the truth and you think that everyone is saying everything to be mean when and if your question isnt answered the way you want it. Most of you need to quit bashing people for answering a question that now I remind you that you asked. You can not assume that the way it was answered was in anyway intended to hurt you, or think that your husband is drinking. If you dont want advice dont ask for it. You can not tell people how to post or what to write so I end this battle as you call it like this : If your husband has pancreatitis and has a lapband have the damn thing removed so that he can live a life of some normalcy without having some thing wrapped around his stomach making it worse because foods eaten can trigger it also. Next time you dont want a question answered then dont ask it.

What does sliming mean/feel like and other FAQ's
Slimming is when you get something stuck in the stoma where the band is on your stomach. Food will get stuck there and your body 's natural response seems to be to send mucus to that area for some reason. You get all this slime in your mouth or excessive mucous and you try to swallow it but it wont go down because there is an obstruction in the way so you have to spit it out. This is a real laymays explanation.
