  1. First of all I said IF meaning just what it says I didnt assume anything. As far as my education goes I have 30 years in healthcare and working with patients who have pancreatitis MOST have it due to alcoholism which is number one on your list. Secondly again IF I said not That he is drinking and needs to stop. So instead of asking questions like this in a forum you SHOULD go to a doctor not ask medical professionals who know about what your husband was diagnosed with. I am so sick of you people taking things I say out of context and making it what you want. If you dont want advice then dont ask. Educate yourself instead of copy and pasting what you think I should know because I far know more about medicine then most ever will. Next time call your lap band doctor and ask him what your husband should do. Have an awesome day.
  2. How is it to late for her to become a vegetarian? Anytime you want a different lifestyle change is good. Im sure she has reseached it and was asking for recipes.
  3. If nutrition is an issue for him I would have him get it removed. That diagnosis is nothing to play with. If he is drinking he better stop. I would be asking a doctor about his nutrition.
  4. No wls is going to work unless you know how to work it. None of it is a guarantee on permenant weight loss unless you make it happen. You can have the band, the by pass, the sleeve and if you dont follow the rules then forget it you are not going to keep the weight off. All surgery comes with risk every single one even toe nail removal however the chances of something bad happening hasnt been enough with any surgery for them to ban it. It doesnt matter how healthy you are going under anesthesia in its self is a risk. You have to do what is right for you not listen to everyone else's stories. To me the band is a savior but also at the same time a real pain in the ass. Im happy with my results but I really cant stand some days and most days relying on protein shakes and protein bars because of various reasons my band is too tight sometimes to eat and other times there is no problem eating. No wls is easy by any means. I dont regret the weight loss but the daily chore of eating I regret. You have to decide which one is right for you because when it comes down to it in the end if you are not ready to deal with whatever complications or problems associated with the surgery of choice then it is better not to have any
  5. one is air (pressure) one is water (regular)
  6. If he is not supportive pre banding he probably wont be after. Its not about him but what you need to do to get your weight down. Just know that the possiblility will be there that he wont support you but move on to do what is best for you. If your husbands dont support you then what isthat saying about them?
  7. If your band slips you will be puking your guts up with everything
  8. That bandsters quickly wanting to get filled up is a set up for failure because once you are full what do you have left to work with. That platues can last for months on end and then some. That it takes a while after a fill (for me) to be able to eat real food because my stomach is sensitive and stays swollen for almost three weeks. That Protein products will be part of me for the rest of my life because I can not eat Breakfast anymore I am too tight in the morning. Junk food is not worth the calories and promotes old bad habits. That cheating for me is disasterous completely and I can not do it ever. That I want pizza sometimes and cant eat it. That I really dont miss carbs so much How good I feel now that I am small enough to excersise after being a couch potato for so long There are probably a million I could add but these are the biggest for me.
  9. Your port area can hurt up to as much as six months. Because it is sewn in the muscle it takes a long time to heal
  10. You did right by all means dont eat cookies for lunch though lol
  11. You are going to be hungry its normal but you can not up your diet just because you are tired of the shakes. You are on liquids for a reason. I would go back to them until your doctor says its okay to eat other foods.
  12. My surgeon says the lapband is supposed to be for someone who only needs to lose between 75 and 100lbs now grant it there are people on here that have lost more than that with the band but the success rate for people who are more than 250 is not as good then with the bypass. You have to do whats best for you but if it were me I would do the bypass. I dont know about erosion though it happens to some and not to others.
  13. At this point stop getting on the scale, heal and start your stragtegy of what you are going to eat when you can eat real food and mashed potatoes should not be one of them. Good carbs should come from vegetables not potatoes.
  14. Stop eating what your not supposed to and excersise its the only way its going to go if you dont then its not going to work
  15. You should only be on liquids for 24 to 48 hours some 72 then move your diet back up gradually. I wouldnt be eating fish after a fill. You get swelling in your stomach and it needs time to rest.
  16. I eat oatmeal for breakfast with body fortress Protein powder in it about 340 calories for breakfast If not oatmeal then I have soft scrambled eggs with fat free cheese in them. Protein Bar, yogurt, sugar free pudding for lunch 300 for lunch Protein shake before the gym EAS carb control 110 Then I have chicken (lloyds barbeque chicken beef or pork) Fat free shredded cheese for dinner at least a cup 400 calories very little carbs or fat. thats about 1200 calories a day. If you dont eat that many calories at least you will not lose weight. Your body will go into starvation mode and that scale will not move. That 1/2 cup of food nonsense whom ever started it needs to stop. You cannot live nutritionally well off of 1/2 cup of food three times a day. If you are going to snack then eat fruit or veggies. If you dont feel hungry and dont want to snack then cosume at least 3 to 400 calories per meal.
  17. I dont have pcos Im just old and I have facial hair I get it waxed you get use to it and it does slow the hair growth down, chin and mustache
  18. I had no preop diet at all. Just couldnt eat after midnight the night before the surgery. It really doesnt help. I worked in surgery for God knows how long and everyones stomach is the same size no matter how fat you are. As far as the fatty liver well that is just their way of making you do some God aweful crap before surgery because any liver I have seen on a screen looks the same no matter how fat you are. They try to make you do this crap in hopes that it will get you in the liquid mode for after surgery. Just do what you feel you need to to do it. I think being on liquids for two weeks is ridiculous when after surgery you will be on liquids for two weeks. Like I said everyones liver and stomach are the same size no matter how fat you are.
  19. I worked in physical therapy rehab lifting 200lb plus patients after my surgery and I went back to work 3 weeks post op. I was still a little sore in my port area but managed just fine. It wasnt an issue
  20. Honestly I would wait. If you get filled to quickly what happens when there is nothing left to fill. I would say wait it out for a little while. Once you are completely filled there is nothing to work with and then if you dont lose your stuck with a full band and nothing else to do. Three times in three months is too much.
  21. Gas is usally gone within 48 hours. You may never get rid of that pain. I have had it for 15 months sometimes I get relief but most of the time I live with it. It could be your signal you are full or that the band is just laying on that nerve. It may get better it may not.
  22. They have to put fluid in the band to see if its working but most take it out leaving your band empty. The smaller the fills the better off you are. Everyone is in a hurry to get fills but what happens when there is nothing left to fill. You have to try to do some of it on your own and not depend on fills to make you lose the weight. When you are filled all the way then what are you really going to do?
  23. You should go to your pcp and have them refer you to a hematologist that is their specialty they can do many blood test that normal doctors cannot and tell you what is causing your bruising
  24. Come on you can do it up your excersise you will get that 20lbs off dont count on fills to do it because then what do you do when you are full and cant get anymore fills
  25. Everyone wants to eat when they are over weight because that is what we are use to doing. No band, or any other gadget that they come up with is going to stop you from wanting to eat. I can count on one hand when I was obese how many times I ate because I was hungry thus making me thin if I wouldnt have ate. Your mind has to be ready for surgery and you have to control that wanting to eat the band is not going to do that for you
