  1. You are supposed to be on liquids for three days post fill then upgrade to soft I would never try to eat chicken after a fill. Didnt your doctor give you post fill instructions. No food for a leat the first couple of days after a fill.
  2. I only have an issue with bread and pasta and rice which I have lived without. I havent tried steak and all fruit is okay. I dont have problems with many things its all about the chewing and small bites.
  3. Its not the right portion sizes for band patients you can not eat that much food and why have the band if your going to use a weight loss system that makes no sense. Let your band work for you
  4. I didnt have a fill for over a year and lost 70lbs I didnt eat any bad carbs either. You are going to be hungry as the swelling goes down but you have to have portion control. I wouldnt be eating any bread or pasta right now save that for later when you have met some of your goals
  5. I had chronic shoulder pain for one entire year. Until I had my first fill it finally went away sometimes it comes back. Sometimes the position of the band is not laying correctly on the nerve causing that pain. It horrible to live with I know. How many fill s have you had? I have only had two in a year and three months so the pain seems to have subsided. I would definitely see if you can find another surgeon but unfortunately that pain may never go away.
  6. Good luck. Chewing is an issue I think for a lot of us but when food gets stuck it will remind you to slow down and chew. We all gained weight because of our love of food but it really hasnt bothered me eating less because I am full so I dont miss pigging out on a portion of three peoples food. In the long run it is more expensive to eat healthy but it is better on the budget because you need so little.
  7. Since on liquids for three days after a fill should you give it time to settle in before excersising again. I was filled today and my stomach is sensitive to the fills so I dont know if I should resume tomorrow or wait til the liquids are done. Will call the surgeon in the morning just wondering what anyone else does.

Couldnt eat bread after surgery and a year later still cant. Pasta cant eat. I have eaten flat bread with some difficulty but I never was a big bread eater so Im not dying without it. Some people can never eat bread but it hurts like all get out when it does get stuck so I dont bother.
  9. Have you tried activia it usually works and its better than milk of magnesia
  10. You are doing this for yourself not your family or friends. Although they want to help us sometimes over nurturing us is too much and is not good for us. Do what you need to do best for yourself
  11. You may need a little taken out. There is a sign big as day in my Drs office that if you are having acid reflux, coughing at night you are toooooo tight. I would ask to have at least 1cc removed and see if it doesnt help. You dont always need big increment fills I only started out with 2cc's and my stomach is so sensitive this is only my second fill in a year and three months and all I have is 3 and a half cc's total in my band. Just a thought
  12. I dont worry about what others say. My sister told me today if I get down to 150 I will look sick. Well I havent weighed 150 in 29 years before I had children and I didnt look sick then. People are just not going to be happy with ones decision to have the band so I say tough luck, its not you, its me and move on. People will never be happy if you are too thin or to heavy they will always have something to say but 150lbs sure looks good to me no matter what anyone thinks. I dont now or since surgery have looked unhealthy and dont plan on it ever.
  13. I eat salads for lunch every single day for a year and 3 months I have never had salad get stuck. Now try some frosted mini wheats and ooooooch
  14. Your not in starvation mode yet because your band is too new. You will get there if you only eat 7 to 900 calories a day.
  15. Grapes, strawberries, blueberries, frozen fruit, yogurt, sugarfree pudding, sugar free dove chocolates (but they are not a low calorie food) zone perfect bars, protein shakes with frozen fruit blended, sugarfree popsicles, sugarfree hard candy, Im not a salty person so the other stuff I can go without.
  16. The band will not take the place of a diet so you dont have too I dont know why you would think that. You still have to have portion control and not eat junk just like on a diet. If you are not excersising then your weight loss will stand still eventually. You have to move to lose after a certain point. If you thought the band was just magically going to do all the work and you would just lose weight with no effort then you were very misimformed by your doctor. Too little food causes your body to go into starvation mode which causes no weight loss. Come on people diet and excersise is the key to successful weight loss.
  17. Its not the governments yay for jobs because they are sucking taxpayers money every single day. Its the companies at hands ability to hire new workers because of personal gain in the company. I dont see why everyone thinks the politicians are handleing business and creating jobs. They are all sitting on their asses collecting a large salary, take weeks off whenever they want and dont pay for healthcare or social security. Maybe just maybe the economy would blossom if their sorry asses would start contributing instead of taking away from americans.
  18. I cant wait to lose my extra skin with a tummy tuck. 40 more pounds and to the plastic surgeon I go. Oh but wait the 40lbs is probably my gut
  19. First of all I didnt pay big bucks my insurance covered it and I did not do it for the weight loss part as much as if I didnt do it possibly having my stomach removed from excessive bile backing up in to my stomach and in to my esophagus. My GI doctor suggested it for the issues I was having with my stomach which now I have none. The weight loss was just a plus. Some bands are done for other reasons besides weight loss. I had huge stomach issues that could not be resolved without the band or have my stomach completely and totally removed so which option would you have chosen. Secondly you can still eat large amounts of food only it will take you longer. The food only stays in the pouch less than a minute then it goes on to the bottom portion of your stomach which is still there, always will be and still is as big as it ever was from the beginning. If you want to lose weight with the band then it is a diet and portion control there is no other way out of it except for that. Yes I did lose 70lbs and now am weight training because I can now and dont have horrid pain in my stomach. It was only a trial for the bile if it didnt work then I probably would have had major surgery. It worked, I am thinner, and happier but never the less still dieting.
  20. The band is not going to stop you from eating too much, you have to learn portion control. Its a diet like all the rest that anyone has ever tried. Those who cant eat too much are probably way too tight and undernourished. It is a big decision to make but one you have to decide. Its not easy because you are still on a diet for life.
  21. How can your port area hurt if you eat too much when its not near the stomach. Your port can hurt up to 6 months after surgery. Really and honestly if you are newly banded try not to eat bread. I never really have a full feeling its more satisfied and no longer hungry. You may never have a full feeling but eating the right amount of calories a day is the key. 12 to 1400 calories. Any less you are putting your body in starvation mode and you will not lose weight. If your port is hurting after you eat it is just coincidental.
  22. 1200 calories is the best I think. All this crap about my surgeon told me to eat only a half a cup is bull crap to say the least and those types of surgeons shouldnt be practising medicine. You can not get proper nurishment off of a half of a cup of food. Normal portions are 3 to 4 0unces of meat 1/2 cup of vegetables and 1/2 cup of fruit. Yes it seems like a lot but that is normal portions that a good doctor would go by. Some will argue I cant eat that much well yes you can because your band has a hole in it and the food only stays in the pouch for a minute or less then starts going to the lower portion of the stomach. I have good restriction and I can eat at least a cup and a half of food. A year post op you should be able to eat a small lean cuisine with no problem at all. I wish whomever started the 1/2 of cup nonsense would stop. Any doctor that told me to eat a half cup of food I would tell him heck no because Im not going to be vitamin deficient or live in starvation mode therefore being a failure cause I wouldnt lose weight. 700 calories is not enough try double that but make good food choices thats all.
  23. I have had shoulder pain for over a year and sometimes it never goes away. If you are lucky it will. The band presses on a nerve and sometimes when they put the band in it is not exactly placed off the nerve but because it is laproscopic they cant really see the nerve. I just deal with it because its not like over bearing or anything. Its just pain that never goes away.
  24. Breakfast: 1 cup 2% milk, lowfat yogurt, zone perfect Protein bar Lunch: Cup of mixed salad topped with fat free shredded mozarella and Lloyds pulled barbeque pork. Snacks: Grapes and stawberries Dinner: Lowfat cottage cheese 1.5 cups topped with strawberries and a handful of trail mix
  25. What does it feel like after eating the 1/2 cup of food? 1/2 a cup theory is bull. No one can be nourished on a 1/2 a cup of food. By a year you should be able to eat a small tv dinner with no problem Only eating a half a cup of food is going to cause Vitamin deficiency for sure. What does it feel like to be full?I it feels satisfied What does it feel like to be stuck? Painful very painful when you try to drink Water to make it go down it just comes back up. What does it feel like before you throw up? people with the band should never ever throw up. What does it feel like when you are throwing up? the same as any time you throw up What does it feel like when you drink water and if you drink it too fast? No diffference in drinking water to me I also have not seen much from people who have actually reached goal: How do people deal with reaching goal? Currently (probably because I am barely starting to live the lifestyle) I imagine that when I reach goal I might be the person to say, "OK I can enjoy myself a bit now and if I gain a few lbs its OK because I can lose it again." But then I will get out of control and gain it all back. to me its not acceptable to think oh I can just gain a few pounds and then lose it. You should always be concerned about gaining and controling your weight loss What is the thought process like once a person reaches goal? I dont think you thought process changes once goal is reached its a daily struggle. What is it like to stay on maintenance? You continue to eat like you have since surgery. Always mindful of what you are putting in your mouth. How do you exercise during matinence? For example if you do 2 hours of exercise per day while loosing weight do you have to continue to do that much exercise during maintenance to keep the weight off or do you pull it back a bit so you don't continue to loose weight?I go to cures its just easier to do cardio and weight training all together
