  1. Happy Brithday and welcome to the 'fifties club' I am 57 too and i hve never felt older than 30 lol
  2. I wouldnt have cold drinks like milk of a morning if you feel your band is tight, a warm drink stands more chance of relaxing the band a little , my band tightens up if i drink cold milk of a morning too so i dont
  3. Make all your appointments at one time then its up to u to cancel if u dont need it, just tell them because of your work schedule u need to forward plan for the next few months.. just like the doctor, his work is no more important than yours !
  4. Try some mild anti-septic cream on the skin around the wound, not on it... its a sign of healing but sometimes our skin gets very dry and needs a little moisture to help ..
  5. I agree with the other posters here it does sound like u need another fill but u do need to go back to the doctor and discuss this, sometimes self diagnosing whether we need a fill or not isnt the answer if u are having trouble losing weight .. I still get some food stuck even after all the time i have been banded and its me not the band .. i am either eating too fast, havent chewed enough or havent cut the food small enough.. The doctor is the expert so tap into his knowledge and go make that appointment
  6. You could try a very small fill like .5 cc i even had one of .25 cc and did it make a difference yes it did .. the Doctor will advise u right tho.. are u getting hungry between meals a lot, do u get stuck .. I would assume they wont be interested in u not eating bread lol
  7. Normally i would agree with u on the staying away from pure sugar but maple and honey are complex sugars and the body metabolises them differently to refined sugar, the Biggest loser in Australia even suggests maple syrup I have eaten a teaspoon of it on my yoghurt every day for over a year and no harm and my diabetes is cured, Im not saying eat more than an odd teaspoon full but i dont see the harm. Everything in moderation and natural as possible imho
  8. Heat packs help the sore muscles in your back and gas pain
  9. U need to phone the doctor/surgeon and ask them .. after all it will be them operating on you I hope all goes well for you ..
  10. I wanted to share a playlist with you, its mainly older songs, but would give some taste of the music i listen to that is more european in flavour. Firstly I like fast music anything heavy rock/metal/symphonic rock and dance/ trance/techno. I also like the odd motivational song or a slow wind down song .. i hope u enjoy : FAST Dragonforce.. Dawn of Victory ...........................Soldiers of the Wasteland ...........................Valley of the Dammed The Matrix soundtrack.. Juno Reactor v Don Davis .. Navras Apocolytica ft Sandra Nasic .. Path Rammstein .. Feuer Frei Hammerfall .. Hearts on Fire ......................... Any means Necessary Gamma Ray .. Rebellion in Dreamland Nightwish .. Storytime ......................Dark Chest of Wonders ......................Kinslayer Darude... Sandstorm The Prodigy.. Firestarter Motivational Moby.. Extreme Ways ( Bourne Ultimatum) Heather Small.. Proud ( or M People ) Evanescence .. Bring me to Life. Lara Fabian.. Je suis Malade ( this song is in French but listen and you will hear why i added it ..it means i am ill/sick translated ) This last track i love as its almost impossible to keep going to it ( watch the video on You Tube) just keep jumping to it Scooter.... Jumping All over the World. I think i have just realised my age is showing lol !
  11. I think somethings are not great for you but unless u are drinking tons of the darn stuff or not losing wieght then why deny yourself your small treat if u get enjoyment from it. When i was diabetic i would let nothing containing sugar pass my lips, now maple syrup on top of my greek ypghurt is so much part of my food i eat i think no way am i giving that up too.. If what u are doing works and it gives a boost to what can be a very mundane sort of routine for food then go for it ..
  12. Grats on the weight loss and continued success that sort of feedback does the mind, body and heart good
  13. Just to add i just weighed a good teaspoon full of muscavado sugar and worked out its 24 calories so that might be the way to go if u dont like the maple which is around the same calorific value for a teaspoon Its soft brown unrefined sugar.. also try to get a light colour maple syrup the darker ones tend to be more smokey in flavour.. 100% ofc
  14. What u could also try is just half a tspoon of a non refined sugar like muscavado brown sugar goes well in coffee and if its unrefined its not so bad for u, u can try with just a tsp full then start cutting it down slightly over a few weeks .. i just made a coffee with maple syrup and its not bad at all, much nicer than honey anyways
  15. You could try maple syrup in coffee might taste better than honey and its a complex sugar like honey and may taste a little nicer. I am not a lover of the honey taste either so maple syrup may work i didnt like stevia either, its probably one of those if u can drink it without anything it will be easier lol
  16. Anywhere u go to eat should have salad options available, i would take some meal replacement shakes with you as they are easily transported, give u the nutrition u need and will act as a fall back for u if u cant find any decent food to eat. Take some sugar free sweet/candy with you too to stop any hunger pangs in between meals, and your water intake is very important to keepo that up too..
  17. Good luck for tomorrow ! I stayed in overnight and am glad i did ... I felt fine afterwards and could have gone home but i felt i learned more from the nurses looking after me than i would have had i have left straight after. That extra bit of support really helped ..
  18. You may find that restriction doesnt come till fill 4 or 5. 2 fills for a lot of us didnt make that much difference give it a chance .. you have this band now so make it work for u. Whatever u eat or how much just make sure its good healthy filling food that wont put on weight .. If i am hungry i fill up on green veg, Protein first ofc.. As for surgeons pushing the Bypass and Sleeve one has to look at how much they charge and whether their profit is greater, ofc in line with success rates .. lapband has a lot more aftercare than the other surgeries...I am still very glad i chose the least invasive surgery.. that to me was very important..
  19. My thoughts exactly ..
  20. I have always weighed myself every day since being banded, i think weighing late at night isnt necessary as your true weight will be after you sleep not before .. I saw on the biggest loser Australia the other day that the doc said to weigh every day as u can monitor it closely and do something about it before it becomes a problem. I did used to stress a little in the beginning but i got to love the scales now and use them as a tool like the band Now i know exactly what food will make me heavy, how much salt i can take etc, to me when i was diabetic, it would be like not monitoring my sugar every day to find out if a food has spiked it .. I got as heavy as i was by not weighing myself, i will not make that mistake again
  21. A distant relative of mine is a personal trainer and is into body building, they rely heavily on Protein but his advice to anyone is always use protein as a suppliment if u replace meals with it then use the ones that u add milk to or that contain milk.. sounds like u are doing ok .. I am in the Uk so they dont push Protein shakes here, just good old healthy food .. If its working for you then i am sure its fine
  22. Oh sure yes ofc its ok to do that .. do u replace meals with shakes ? or as a suppliment
  23. Great news .. ish !
