  1. yep that's not uncommon..i dont understand it either..lol
  2. thanks for the encouragement everyone. i knew i could count on you guys to help me see the positive. lovethenewme...i just thought today i was gonna buy an outfit in a 12 and do what you said to just try it on every now and then, cuz i certainly had no idea i would fit into a size 12 shirt. so since i have a goal size and not weight i think i'll measure by my clothes. thanks again LBT fam..love you guys!
  3. your band my be a little irritated for now. i would go to liquids for about a day and then you should be fine. if it still is a problem i'd go see the doc.
  4. Ok so my new goal was to be in onederland by VDay. well that's not going to happen. In this past week I got sick(on antibiotics) and TOM was here, hence I picked up a few pounds. Having TOM and being sick made my band super tight! ugh! on another note I bought a size 12 shirt yesterday and it fit nice. I'm sure it was due to the way it was made, but hey it was a 12 and i'll take that. I'm really trying not to be obsessed with the scale again and focus on my actual clothes. it seems if the scale is moving down then my clothes stay the same and vice versa. they just never move simutaneously..ugh! but still happy with my band. sometimes i think i need a slight unfill and then i think i'm fine. my band is so fickle! ugh! does anyone else deal with some days thinking your too tight and then thinking it's just perfect?
  5. i live in sauk village, close to dyer indiana.was banded 05/20/11. anyone feel free to PM with questions or just for support
  6. same here..depends on what time of day i weigh myself and which scale. i have 2 scales at home and they differ by 3 pounds! but i have come to terms that there are times when the scale doesnt move or even moves up, but then i notice a difference in my clothes. they are never going down at the same time!! lol. also i know i am gaining muscle mass so i dont freak out about the scale as much as i used to.
  7. i research the band for 5 years and during that time i had 2 different employers and both had insurance policies that excluded any WLS. i decided that if i can spend money on a luxury car and other things i like, then my health was also worth the investment. i took out a low interest credit card thru my credit union. i live in illinois and my surgery was out patient and the cost was $12,500, which includes my first year of fills. that is one bill i have no issue paying when it comes. so worth every penny!
  8. i think so many of us (me with both my hands up) didnt realize how much this whole weight loss thing is MENTAL! Dont beat yourself up about the cheating. we all do it at some point. the point is dont stay there. no one said this journey was going to be easy and it surely isnt a quick fix. does your doctors office offer a support group. maybe if you could chat with others at the same stage you are it would help you get thru the tough times in the beginning. Know that we are all pulling for you! feel free to PM me if you'd like jennifer

awesome blog! thank you for sharing!
  11. i think that sucks. why dont insurance companies look at WLS as a means to preventing some of the things they would have to pay for later on such as heart attack, disease, diabets, stroke, etc. ugh that makes me so made. i pray they find a loop hole for you. i was self pay so i didint have to jump thru the insurance hoops. how high does your BMI have to be. i've heard of people going into the office with ankle weights on to weigh more so they would qualify. IJS! LOL!
  12. 1. be able to purchase clothing at any store not just those that cater to plus sized women(although i saw a size 10 in ashley stewart the other the dayWTH!) 2. be able to sit comfortably with my legs crossed 3. be able to jog along lake michgan while listening to my ipod and not have to call the paramedics...lol 4. feel beautiful and sexy all the time. 5. live longer!!! and healthier!
  13. congrats on telling your family. i'm glad you have that support cuz you will need it. best wishes on your journey!
  14. the scale is the devil in my house! i have broken a scale from throwing it down the stairs. LOL. i was soooo obsessed with the scale weighing everyday, several times a day. but i finally figured out that since i work out 4-5 times a week and i was losing inches and gaining muscle mass. muscle is heavier than fat so that's why the scale wasnt moving. eventually it did start moving, but i lost clothing sizes before the scale really moved. so try and see if you're losing inches. best wishes!
  15. i agree with your surgeon about getting caught up in the numbers. and my surgeon only told me cuz i asked, but i'm glad i did because after 4 fills and 2 emergency unfills i knew exactly where i needed to be so now i am almost at 8cc's not sure the size of my band though, never wanted to know that cuz if i have a 10cc band and i have this much already it'll freak me out..lol
  16. jdunn23.. i was banded may 20, 2011
  17. Ok i know this may sound crazy, but since i know my band is tight in the morning i dont try to eat. Some times i can eat 2 pieces of bacon and i can always do a protein shake or slim fast if i'm being lazy. but later in the evening i can never tell if i will be able to eat. or what i will be able to eat. i dont need an unfill cuz it changes on a daily basis and i can eat. if i'm going out with friends i find myself literally praying LORD PLEASE LET ME BE ABLE TO EAT! lol am i the only one who prays they will be able to eat..LOL ijs!
  18. i absolutley love this post. some may not agree with what i'm about to say, but i dont really care. i like the originaltor of this post eat all the "bad things", but not the same amount as before, now i havent lost 100 pounds but i'm cruising right along. i got the band so that i could eat the foods i love but in moderation. so i get the best of both worlds with m y band and make no apologies about it!!! LOL
  19. i tried to drink a carbonated beverage and instantly felt miserable. wont ever do it again
  20. i used to think that if you can get gum stuck then you band is way tooo tight, but know i can see how that would happen. i would hope for one i would never accidently swallow gum, but if i did i would be able to throw it back up. my surgeon never told me i couldnt have gum, but i guess everyone is different.
  21. i agree it takes a while for some to get to good restrction...took me almost 8 months, 5 fills and 2 unfills
  22. thanks so much it worked...wow... i've never compared pics side by side like that!
  23. i eat all of them. no problems with any of them and my band is pretty tight, but it also depends on what time if day it is and i must take breaks between eating the nuts as they become compact and can get stuck if i'm not careful
