  1. is that person the only one that can do it?
  2. WOW this a serious HIPPA violation. i would so pursue that! ugh!
  3. i had the spaghetti honestly cuz i wanted it. the "good"proteins like chicken breast or beef or shrimp or most turkey products are hard for me to get down. i barely eat during the day time cuz my band is tight and moslty loosens up at night. i did have some meat in the spaghetti as well. once i slowed way down and took long breaks between bites i was better able to tolerate it. i will say i'm not the typical bandster as far as my eating habits are concerned. i got the band cuz i wanted to be able to eat what i wanted but in smaller portions. and that's exactly what my band is doing for me. i am content with the rate at which i am losing and have a great feeling that i will make my goal of a size 12 in one year, which is in 3 months exactly. i'm not eating pre-band portions, i sometimes fix my plate like i did preband. with my current restriction there is no way i would be able to eat nearly half of what i used to eat. i dont really have a problem with getting hungry, actually i mostly eat cuz i know i need to to survive. thanks for your reply lovethenewme screeden...your band sounds just like mine...maybe they were seperated at birth! LOL
  4. i kept a notebook with me the 2 weeks before my initial consultation so that whenever a question popped in my head i wrote it down. i ended up with 50 QUESTIONS! LOL! I EVEN ASKED MY SURGEON IF HE WAS EVER PART OF A MALPRACTICE SUIT! LOL! so make sure you ask any and EVERYTHING, nothing is a stupid question. jennifer
  5. i was so nervous about doing things wrong too. but once i got to soft food i LOVED scrambled eggs. i was more paranoid about throwing up and messing up my band, or that my port would flip. but guess what eventually eveyone "tests" their band and experience some unpleasant things. i think i didnt really test it till at least 4 months out, now i'm not saying do that, what i 'm saying is relax and just follow your doc's orders and you will be fine. this is a great place for support. best wishes to you on your journey jennifer
  6. i have been banded 9 months and i'm still learning to work with my band. since my last fill i have been real tight, but still able to eat. what frustrates me is the not knowing. last night i wanted some spaghetti , so i made it and was able to eat about a cup of it. ok that was fine, well i took the same spaghetti for lunch today and was barely able to get in 2 forks full. i wish i could look inside my body and know before i try to eat something if my band is going to cooperate. and when i order food out at a restaurant or fix my plate at home i still get portions like i ate pre-band. I KNOW GOOD AND WELL THAT I CANT EAT IT, but i cant seem to make that mental switch to stop doing that. am i the only person struggling with this. Are there signs my body is giving me that i'm missing that will tell me if i will be able to eat? HELP!
  7. i had 2 emergency unfills and my doctor took out too much the last one. i had to go thru thanksgiving in the south with my mom's good ole southern cooking. i didnt have good restriction for about 6 weeks. 2 weeks too tight and 4 weeks not tight enough. i'm not gonna lie in the 2 weeks i was too tight i lost 9 pounds, but once i got unfilled i gaine by those 9 in a week. i didnt pig out over the holiday like i thought i would, but during that 4 weeks i neither gained nor loss. my band is really fickle too and eating solid food in the morning is a no go, lunch is sometimes and dinner as well. during TOM it is definelty tighter. I am just learning that some days i will be able to eat decent and others i wont, today makes 9 months and i'm 40 pounds down and from a size 18/20 to a 12/14, so i'm content. i think we just have to learn that the band is fickle and will get tighter and looser for whatever reason, even stress. best wishes
  8. i understand what your saying and you are entitiled to your opinion. i started at 242 and wore 18/20 and most of my friends thought i didnt need the surgery. well it wasnt about what anyone else thought. i used to be jealous of the people who lost without getting fills, or people who dropped like 50 pounds in 6 months or shorter, but then i realized I'm me and they are them. my journey is my own and i take responsibility for it. once again you are entitiled to feel how you do cuz feelings are real. Best wishes on your journey!
  9. i have the same problem. i used to take tyenole PM whenever i had aches and pains. now i take childrens ibuprofen and just double to dose cuz it comes in liquid form. i can still take my thyroid medication cuz it's pretty small, and just recently started some iron pills, but yeah once i took a multivitamin and it plus my entire lunch came back up. ugh never again!
  10. you are so funny. but i hear you on the independent thang! LOL! you're doing great hun..keep up the good work.
  11. i had a similiar experience with being over filled..i was miserable for 2 weeks...no one helped me till i was literally begging and crying on the phone! RIDICULOUS! but i'm glad things worked out for you.
  12. i'm 9 months out and i totally get what you are saying.. never thought in a million years i would not be interested in food!!! I LOVE MY BAND!!!
  13. sounds like you are too tight. should probably get an unfill. i was too tight for 2 weeks and finally ended up in the emergency room for an unfill. i dropped 9 pounds in those 2 weeks. i had energy and could work out, but couldnt even keep liquids down. this is very dangerous. so please go see your doc. swelling is normal for about 2 days but anything longer than that is too much. take care. jennifer
  14. yeah i dont go by the scale...i went from a size 18/20 to a 12/14 in 9 months, but i have only lost about 35-38 pounds..i have lost more inches than anything. it took me 5 fills and 2 unfills to get to good restriction.
  15. took me about a good week to sleep on my tummy comfortably. but now that i'm losing it's becoming a little uncomfortable at times
  16. i freaked out when i started mushies and soft foods and started gaining weight. you are totally normal. i do hope your doctors office gave you a list of foods for the various stages.if not feel free to PM me and i can give you some suggestions. i am 9 months out and went from a size 18/20 to a 12/14. but that was after 5 fills and 2 emergency unfills. it takes time to get really adjusted to the band, but it will happen. just be patient and follow your docotors plan. i know thats easier said than done, but i've been where you are. jennifer
  17. glad all went well. yeah i could barely talk in a full sentence till 3 days post op. but take this time to relax and heal..yeah!!!! welcome to band land! jennifer
  18. good post...i think we've all been that at one point and even go back here a few time..i know i have~!
  19. when people ask how i'm losing, i tell them portion control and i work out 4-5 times a week. which is true. i just dont choose to disclose my band. now some ppl do know, but i try to not tell everyone, cuz it's personal
  20. it sounds like you should attend a lap band seminar. see if there are any in your area. that will answer a lot of your questions. feel free to PM for any other questions. best wishes to you. jennifer
  21. so excited for you! wow that was like hyper speed fast. best wishes on your journey!
  22. congrats. glad you dont have to do the 6 month wait. fell free to send any questions my way. jennifer
  23. congrats on your decision..this is a great place for support. feel free to PM with any questions you might have. i was banded may of 2011. jennifer
