Journey back to health

Entries in this blog

I just got back from my Dr appt. I am down 7.4 lbs from the last one. Yay me!! However I know most of that was lost the first couple weeks and not the last couple weeks, so I decided to get a fill. I am now at 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I think I am getting close to the green zone, I am hoping this fill will get me there. I need to get more exersize, but I am happy with my progress so far.

I am hungry every 3 hours! I need a fill but my appointment isnt for a week. I need to find healthy snacks to hold me over. I am still eating way less than I was before the band, but not as much less as I need to be. Other than that I am very happy with my band. Like quite a few others on here, I am still waiting for it to sink in that I will actually be able to lose the weight I need to and keep it off. When the weight loss slows down, I start to panic a little bit.

I need to start walking more so I downloaded an audio book to my ipod. I am hoping it will make it less boring. Has anyone else tried this? I am doing pretty good with my food choices, but sometime I feel like I am eating too much, which seems kinda silly when I know I am eating way less than I used to. I only weigh once a week so have to wait until Thursday to see how I have done this week.

Had my second post-op appointment today and got my second fill. I opted to only get a quarter cc. I dont want to end up in the red zone, I would rather take it slower. I have lost another 7 lbs. for a total of 25lbs since I started this journey. I am very happy with my progress so far but I know I need to work more exercise into my routine as I have none at the moment.

So I got my first fill on Thursday and got hit by a cold on Friday. My usual response to this is to start taking 12 hour sudafed and 12 hour musinex if needed. Well that doesn't work because both of those pills are way to big for me to swallow now. I could possibly cut the musinex if half, that is still a fairly large pill that is not coated. The sudafed however I can't cut because it will mess with the extended release that makes it last for 12 hours. So I am stuck taking the 4 hour medicine. H

So I went for my first post op appointment and ended up getting my first fill also. Found out a few things. First I have the smaller 10cc band, second I already had 5cc's in it. So they only added 1/2cc. I can feel the difference though. I had lost another 4 lbs since the surgery, whoo hoo!! I am very happy with my decision to have this surgery.

I have my first Dr appointment later today. I am interested to see if I lost any more weight since the surgery, but nervous also. I have actually had more issues from being allergic to the steri strips they put over my incisions than from the incisions themselves. I have never had to use them before and therefore did not know I was allergic to them. Now my tummy itches all the time. Not fun. At this point I haven't had any issues eating anything as long as I make sure to chew very well. Stomac

I feel like I am eating nonstop. I know I'm not, but I am definitely eating more often than I have been. I dont expect to lose anything between now and my first fill, but i dont want to gain any back either. My stomach is growling like every 3 hours so I know it is not just in my head. I have my first post op appointment in two days and will talk to the Dr then.

I am one week out from surgery and doing well. I am excited to know that I am heading in the right direction to get back to my former healthy self. So far I have not had any major surprises that differ from the research I did before having the surgery. I am hitting my limit of just liquids but my Dr instructions say I can start mushy's today, so Yippy! My husband and children have been very supportive and caring. My husband has even started trying to change his habits so as not to make me feel
