Trying Not To Be Discouraged

Ok so my new goal was to be in onederland by VDay. well that's not going to happen. In this past week I got sick(on antibiotics) and TOM was here, hence I picked up a few pounds. Having TOM and being sick made my band super tight! ugh! on another note I bought a size 12 shirt yesterday and it fit nice. I'm sure it was due to the way it was made, but hey it was a 12 and i'll take that. I'm really trying not to be obsessed with the scale again and focus on my actual clothes. it seems if the scale is moving down then my clothes stay the same and vice versa. they just never move simutaneously..ugh! but still happy with my band. sometimes i think i need a slight unfill and then i think i'm fine. my band is so fickle! ugh! does anyone else deal with some days thinking your too tight and then thinking it's just perfect?

My band is "fickle" also...I named her Matilda because she exhibits a lot of what you just described. You are doing great, keep up the good work.

Jennifer, Do not be discouraged. Onederland will come, I have been yoyoing(not sure that is a word) for months. My band has been fickle since it was put in, that is why I have not had many fills. You are correct you do need to stop obsessing over the scales, I finally had to stop weighing my self for a while and went and bought a "goal" skirt. I bougt a size 10 pencil skirt at the end of the summer. Now, in the dressing room I was able to squeeze my self into the skirt and zip it up. Now imagine, I was wearing mostly 12's still some 14's depending on the cut. Now that's a visual, I looked like an over stuffed sausage. ;-). I took it home tried it on, and wore it into the family room and asked my husband, "How does this fit" He took one look at me and said, You are not wearing that out of the house.! I had to laugh but the look on his face was all I needed. I tried that skirt on every Sunday, every week. Last week I wore that skirt to work. The scales fluctuate so much, I weigh my self once a month, when I get out of the shower. Do you go periodically and see your surgeon? Have you compared your eating to the zones on the lap band site, I knew I needed a fill for months before I got one but as long as I was not gaining I was ok. It was when I gained that I went back and had my fill. If you fill like your too full, than diffiently go and talk to your surgeon. Good luck and you look amazing!

Great work . . . it feels so good when your husband notices how good you are looking. I hit onederland this last week, by my new and improved scale. My old one I was there a few months ago, but I knew how to manipulate that scale if you know what I mean. It is really good to be there but I am NOT is a size 12. I'm still wearing 1x. I'm only 5 feet tall which is probably the reason . . . wow, people who are tall show the lose of weight a lot more than us short people do. I'm still happy though because when I started this I couldn't find anything to wear in a regular store. I had to go to the fat people store and then I was wearing a size 4x. It was impossible to buy pants that fit right. I was wearing a 24 and am now wearing a size 18-20. I've lost 98 lbs so far. I do wear my clothes lose though and am hoping this summer I can buy some new slimming clothes. I've been wearing sweat shirts to work all winter that are loose hoping my weight lose will really show in the summer. Keep up the good work . . . won't it be wonderful to be in a size 9 again.

thanks for the encouragement everyone. i knew i could count on you guys to help me see the positive.

lovethenewme...i just thought today i was gonna buy an outfit in a 12 and do what you said to just try it on every now and then, cuz i certainly had no idea i would fit into a size 12 shirt. so since i have a goal size and not weight i think i'll measure by my clothes.

thanks again LBT fam..love you guys!
