  1. I don't remember my Dr. ever saying anything about straws. I drink from them all of the time with no problems. In fact after surgery the nurses brought me water with a straw for each meal as I stayed over night.
  2. I have lost 60 lbs and my port has moved up..... or I guess my loose skin has moved down. BUT, I have not had any pain.
  3. I was in terrible pain (back) for two days and then it went away. Just like magic!
  4. Make sure you get a vitamin with Iron in it.
  5. My doc told me the band maker advises against nsaids, aspirins. He also told me no anti-inflammatories or steriods etc. That basically leaves me with the options of Tylenol or narcotics.
  6. Wow I have never heard anyone say anything like that before. I may be wrong, but my first impression is that he is not a very good surgeon if that is the case. I agree with everyone else...... find another doctor.
  7. I have to wonder if some people did any research before they elected to have this surgery.
  8. I have two fills...... a total of 6 cc in a 14cc band and I have no restriction yet. Getting tired of this dieting on my own stuff.
  9. Eating too fast or not chewing enough gives me the hiccups.
  10. If you tell him you had a "big lunch" he may wonder why since you knew you had a dinner date. Good luck on your date!
  11. That is a good question and something I will ask my doctor on my next visit.
  12. I have tried Nectar in the past and threw them out. Others have loved them, so who knows..............
  13. I don't know if she has tried any kinds of diet or whatever. To me, WLS is a last resort way to lose weight.
  14. My doc uses a gel to numb the area, not a shot.
  15. Howdy and good luck with your surgery. Hope you get better nicer nurses than I had.
  16. I never see any ads. Might be because I am using firefox with ad block. I dunno...........
  17. I hope to have a lot of loose skin. It will show me how healthy I have become!
  18. My doc puts a gel on my skin that numbs it and then gives me the needle which I don't feel at all. He has me sit up and drink some water with the needle still inserted in case he needs to remove some fluid if I can't get the water down. This is what he has done for my two fills.
  19. My sugar went very high for a few days after surgery even though I wasn't eating. My lower and mid back were very painful to the point I could barely move at all for about 2 full days. I am 52. Just letting you know you are not alone. Things worked out in the end and I am off of metformin and insulin though my blood still runs a little high and the doc has started me on victoza recently. But overall my bs is lower and I am eating better than I was before. Hope to be off of all dibetic meds by spring if I lose enough weight.....
  20. Same thing my doc says.............
  21. I weigh most days. Helps keep me motivated.
  22. Just put the past behind you and start again. That is the beauty of the band. It is always there, waiting for you, even when you mess up. So you can pick right up and continue onward. Like you, I lost a lot of weight on the pre and post op diets. Things have slowed down considerably since then. I go in for my second fill tomorrow and I am hoping I get lucky and get some restriction.
  23. Thanks. I can feel the difference in my clothes but I still look the same in the mirror. Kind of a bummer actually. 51 pounds sounds like a lot but when you start out at 379 it really isn't very much.
  24. Haven't reported in for a while. Go for my 2nd fill on Tuesday. I have 5cc in a 14cc band. If I chew thoroughly I can eat about anything I want except for beef and pork. Have managed to lose 51 pounds by dieting and a little walking. Gonna ask the doc if I can lift weights when I see him.
