  1. The preop diet was very hard for me also. I did cheat once and eat a small hamburger and I really regret it. The postop diet is much easier (banded on Monday) so far. Hang in there because you can do it! Don't let yourself down like I did.
  2. As fat as I am, I can always go to Wal Mart and see several people much worse than I. Some of that has to do with the fact that I live in Mississippi and we are the fattest state in the USA.
  3. I just got banded Monday so I really don't know much or have any experience. But, there are two things I DO know......... After 15 years of being a fat ass I finally admitted I could not lose the weight on my own............. I did not want to do something drastic that would permanently alter my digestive system and could not be reversed. So I went with the band.......fwiw
  4. My dear, sweet friends......... only a woman would worry about this.
  5. Best of luck to you gurl! I know you are looking forward to the new you! Walk as soon as you can after surgery. It makes a difference.
  6. I had gas pain in my left shoulder for about 48 hours. It actually was kinda painful but it mostly just hurt when I breathed in deeply. Haven't had any problem in the last 2.5 days.
  7. I have had a lot of gas down south and almost none up north. Funny thing is that the few times I feel like I need to burp I can't. Anyone else have this feeling?
  8. Ha! I know how you feel. I was just banded Monday and I feel like I have been stabbed also! Best of luck to you man!
  9. I am glad everything went so well for you Amy! And you went home the same day!!
  10. Thanks a ton! I only have some pain when I move now so things are good. I have been walking more than I thought i would and I suppose that has helped. So glad I have the surgery behind me.
  11. Hi e verybody. I am just getting to the PC today and I wrote a little note on how things went on the October Bandsters!!! thread. Page 15. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/136406-october-bandsters/page__st__280__gopid__1671362#entry1671362 Thanks to all for your well wishes!
  12. Hey everybody, I got banded Monday morning. I had a lot of post-op pain until about Wednesday morning and then things begin to calm down to what I would assume is a normal level of pain. I literally could not get up and down out of chair without help. But time and Lortab have been a blessing in that regard. The Dr. let me go home late Tuesday afternoon and I stayed the night at my parents house. They were a Godsend in helping me out (I'm single). I am on a clear liquid, sugar free diet for a week and then back to the Dr. There has been lots of farting but almost zero burping. My wounds appear to be doing just fine and I have been walking and drinking a lot of water. The therapist also has me using one of those little portable breathing machines where you practice inhaling deeply about 10 times a day. My Dr. glued me back together instead of stitches. I have five incisions on my stomach. The largest is about 2.5 inches long. The port is four inches above and slightly to the left of my belly button. They shaved my stomach and I am feeling very "metrosexual" right now. As far as my diabetes goes my glucose levels have been high. They hovered between 200-250 while in the hospital and have been running and 150-160 at home. Small doses of insulin help bring it down but I am off of all of my oral meds (diabetic) per Dr. orders. Of course I am crushing all of my other meds and so far it has not been the problem I thought it might. They don't tastes so bad. Right now I am feeling pretty good..... but those first couple of days I was having some doubts about my decision. The funny thing is that I have actually gained six pounds since my surgery. Retaining lots of fluid I suppose...... Good luck to all of you!
  13. Good luck to you! I have to stay the night so I probably won't be able to check in till Tuesday afternoon. How did your diet go? I cheated one time when I got so weak I felt slightly faint. Lost 25 pounds.
  14. My time has come. Gonna get cut Monday morning. Just today, I started getting a little nervous but it has mostly passed already. Checked my glucose level and it is a little high but I have always heard stress will do that. Who else is getting done tomorrow?
  15. I get Centrum chewables from Wal Mart. They are orange flavored.
  16. The purpose of the preop diet is too shrink your liver since the DR has to work around it. That is what my doctor told me and I have talked to others who said the same thing.
  17. Best of luck Bob! My surgery date is the day before yours. I don't know what to tell you about eating. It might be something the nurses brief you on before leaving the hospital.
  18. Did/are any of ya'll having a vena cava filter put in or a EGD? I had both done, the filter by choice. Just wondering because if so it will delay your surgery date a couple weeks or so.
  19. I finished day 7 of my diet. And you are right it can be so difficult. But I haven't cheated yet. McDonalds is looking pretty good right about now! Good luck to you!
  20. Thanks for sharing! That is very inspirational!
  21. Five days of my liquid diet (without cheating) and I am down 13 pounds as of this morning. Lot of it is water I am sure but it still feels nice. I am one of those who weighs everyday because it motivates me if the scales creep upward. Thanks to all for the good info I have received on this forum!
  22. Sorry, wrong thread.
  23. I am with you brother. I can't imagine the pain will be any worse than the pain I have had from diabetes complications. Bring it!
  24. Cyn I have the opposite problem of you! Things are a little juicy. Seems we are reacting to the Protein differently. Your diet sounds like mine except I only get 3 shakes a day. Good luck!
