  1. Going in on the sixth for a scope and a vena cava filter. Have any of you had these done together? Any comments on your experience. Thanks.
  2. slim fast low carb has 20 grams of protein and the chocolate taste pretty good to me.
  3. Slimfast low carb has 20 grams of protein and taste pretty good. (i use the chocolate). I pay $30 for 24 cans.
  4. I have bcbs of mississippi and I was told that the only weight they would be informed of would be my starting weight when I first contacted my bariatric surgeon. In other words they will not know if I have gained weight or not. When I contacted my dr. I was 400 and that is the weight they will have submitted to them regardless of what happens during my time with the dietitian.
  5. 51 years old. been overweight since I was about 36. hope to have surgery by the end of the summer.
  6. My doctor told me many of his patients never get a fill and lose the weight they want with the band simply installed in place.
  7. Congrats on your great success! Bummer about the slipped band. How could he fix it without surgery though? Forgive me as I am new and pretty ignorant of all this...
  8. Do you really want a guy that takes a cooking or an art class? Sorry, couldn't resist....
  9. Welcome to all from one noobie to another.
  10. Okay that is good to hear. I have a message to my insurance lady at the doctors office asking the same thing. I don't have a lot of trust for insurance companies.
  11. Hi all. BCBS says I have to see a dietitian for three months and have my doctor supervise my diet for the same three months. What do you think they expect from me? If I lose weight will they tell me I don't need the surgery? I have dieted enough to know I can lose about 30 pounds before I fail and start gaining it back. I am 6'1" and exactly 400 pounds yesterday.
  12. I have been reading all of these interesting posts. But I am new and don't know what PB is. Anyone?
  13. Oddly, I have noticed a different kind of reaction from people. I am a big guy anyway, tall, broad shouldered, big boned. Because I carry my fat a little differently from some obese people I am perceived as some sort of tough guy sometimes. I have been told I "intimidate people" and that "you are a big man, I wouldn't want to mess with you." What is funny is that I get tired so easily when I do physical labor. If someone did "mess" with me they would probably be very successful. I am also a very sloppy dresser so I do, with that and my size, get the "he must be a lazy dumb ass" treatment from people sometimes.
  14. Thanks for your support!
  15. Well, thanks ya'll. I have seen the doctor but before my insurance will pay for the surgery they want me to see a nutritionist for 3 months and also see a pulmonary doctor and a psych. These requirements are new for this year. Guess I waited too long to act. So it will be well into the summer before I can have any surgery. It took me a while to make the decision but now I am very impatient and want to get moving.
  16. Not one hello.... First time I have never been welcomed to a forum.
  17. Hi there. I am new and reporting for duty ........ not banded yet. Thinking about using Dr. King from Oxford, Mississippi. Anyone use him?
