    November 2022 surgery support!

Just got my surgery date this morning. I am scheduled for November 16th! Anybody else close to this date? I’m both nervous and excited. Looking for support and people I can talk to that understand how I feel, as they are going through the same thing! Thanks

It's all Thanksgiving's fault. I avoided the mashed potatoes, but I had some gravy made from turkey drippings and stuffing, as well as cheesy peas and 2 Hawaiian sweet rolls, besides the turkey. Not all at once, because I can't eat that much at once. But throughout the day, yep. Definitely didn't eat right. So...today I get back to basics and reset my pouch and my mindset. I didn't workout yesterday, so today is strictly back to my diet and my working out. I've been so good at not cheating and not messing up, but yesterday was too much for me to resist. So, time to get back on track. But MAN it was so yummy lol

    September surgery buddies!!

Super embarrassed by what happened yesterday. I had 4 viles of blood drawn, ate a small protein bar & went to Walmart to exchange a sweater. Guess who was laying on a bench halfway passed out about 20mins later. I should have gone straight home after getting my blood but during my pre-op days a quick snack was enough to give me an hour or 2 of energy. Not anymore. Thankfully I wasn't alone & my brother brought me an electric wheelchair bc I couldn't walk. My vision & feeling in my hands came back & I was able to walk to the car. Not doing that again

    4 weeks down!

Hope that your progress is getting better. Are you still using the restroom more frequently or has that leveled out a bit? My RNY procedure is 12/2, this Friday. Super nervous yet excited as well.

IKWYM! I put on a size 16 not expecting to get them past my thighs let alone button them, but my 22's were getting dangerously loose, luckily baggy is in. Not only did they get past my thighs but I was able to button them without laying down or sucking in. I was in tears. I mean you know you'll get results but going from 26-28 to 16 in 6 months just puts me in awe. My youngest(12F) told me today she saw an old picture of me and didn't realize until that moment just how much weight I had lost.

I went grocery shopping today & I DIDN'T SWEAT. I would always sweat doing anything out, no matter how hot or cold somewhere was & it was embarrassing. Today that wasn't an issue

    November 2022 Surgery Buddies

11/3 surgery… 20 days post op… infection nearly cleared.. incisions are healing up, a couple already done… feeling good overall!! Still not on par with liquids and food (purée) is a chore but I am ok with that…had zero excitement for purée or any of the food things I was looking forward to pre surgery but I guess that comes with the new normal… getting waves of emotional… that’s expected but always exhausting… no regrets so far even with the setback! it’s also weird I have both more energy and a lot less stamina… when I am going, I can go faster and with more pep in my step.. but I am still crashing by early evening … getting better since I can stay up past nine now which I didn’t for the first two weeks …. hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks Spartanmaker, these are all good suggestions. Will be talking with my surgeon and nutritionist as well.

    Tailbone found!

You're not alone. My tailbone has been screaming at me since my pre-op skim milk diet and hasn't stopped screaming. Sitting on the couch isn't comfortable. I need to find a specialized support pillow or something because it hurts pretty bad. I WISH I had some cushion on my rear. Lol

Just a quick update, my endoscopy showed that I had a significant amount of bile reflux. I haven’t had my follow up appointment with him yet to talk more about it, but it sounds like bile reflux can happen when you have bypass and also when you have your gallbladder removed, so that might be what’s going on. I also have a hernia that needs to be repaired. I’ll post an update once I gave my follow-up with the doctor in early November.
