A POSITIVE GLOWING STORY of success

ALERT: his new name is New&Improved. He changed his name every time we acknowledged his arrogance. From Mikeyy to Mike666, to Superman84, to MIKEYY84.

I had a sleeve and hernia repair done and then 45 days later had hardware removed from my knee. I would have the one that takes the longest to recover from first and then do the next one while still on leave. My bariatric surgeon wanted to wait 6 weeks after hardware removal to do my sleeve but I was able to reschedule the hardware to later as the recovery time for that was only a couple weeks.

yes - it'll stop - and then many of us bounce back up 10-20 lbs a few months later. So you may just look like Olive Oyl for a few months. If it's really worrying you, you can always come up a bit on calories - but keep in mind that most of us do have that 10-20 lb rebound

    23 Days Post Op-Only 9lb Lost

Yeah, that sucks! On a good note, I started following my dietician’s recommendations by increasing my calories and sure enough, me not eating enough was the issue. I finally broke my 2.5 week stall and dropped 2 pounds overnight. Now that I’ve tackled that problem, I need to increase my fiber to help with constipation. Currently using Dulcolax.

    Hunger/Cravings After Surgery

I am in my 5th month and I still don’t get hungry. I have to make myself eat... I take in about 600 - 650 calories a day. I weigh out my food, as not to be full.

What do you wish you had known

I did because I am a firm believer that when you are a patient in the hospital you need to ask questions and also never suffer unnecessary pain or discomfort if you don't have to. After surgery I did feel a lot of discomfort from gas that I could not release and nausea. I was given some over the counter stuff. I immediately got up and started walking to release gas but nothing but a small burp here and there. I kept walking every hour and nothing again. So, I asked the nurse to please call the doctor and see if there was anyway he could send me something else to help with the discomfort and nausea. I did have to have a debate with the nurse about it because she kept insisting that is what the doctor recommends and he gives all patients the same. I had to tell her nicely that I understood all that but that was not what I was asking her. I already knew what he had sent me and it wasn't working to well and if that is what he gives all patients then fine but I still want her to ask in case he can give me something stronger. You have to really be careful in the hospital because they are not feeling the discomfort and some don't want to go the extra mile. Guess what? TARA! Omg, whatever they gave me stopped not only the nausea asap but also relieved so much pressure. I was home free 2 and a half hours after surgery. I was in heaven! So, don't settle if you don't have to do so.

I wished I would have known about the exhaustion. I liken this experience to the first trimester of pregnancy. No energy, sleep a lot, the smell of food can make you nauseated. I have weird food cravings too... Like collard greens. I always liked collard greens but for some strange reason, I love them now.

    JUNE 2020 BYPASSERS

Nurse called to check on me post op. Asked me if I’d had a bowel movement yet. I tell her no. She says I need to take Milk of Magnesia because they want me to still have bowel movement even though I’m on a liquid diet. Wake up in the middle of the night in a sea of diarrhea in my bed all over my new white bed sheets and blanket. One of the most disgusting things I’ve ever experienced. If you are going to take Milk of Magnesia, take it first thing in the morning. Do not take in the afternoon or early evening. If you do, you might just literally shit the bed.
