Well I am up early, going to the hospital in a few hours for my Gastric Bypass. Nervous but excited. Was told I might be in the hospital till Friday, will let y'all know how it goes. Keep smiling, let the adventure begin for a whole new life.· 1 reply
It really isn't that bad at all. What i will say is you may feel some nausea after you wake up and when you get to your room and a bit of pressure in your abdominal area. Try the over the counter stuff they give (I think it was GASX) and something else they give for nausea. Get up as fast as you can unless you are sick or something but try to go for a walk and continue to do so every hour. If you still pressure and nausea, ask the nurse to call your doctor and see if they can recommend something stronger for both. That was a lifesaver for me. Other than that I have been very happy with this whole process so far. I am out three weeks now. FOLLOW EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO DO, I have. God Bless you on your new journey.
Follow-up yesterday was ok. That is, I have to wait for the labs though. This will take a few days.· 0 replies
Surgeon was pleased and told me to wean off the PPI. Ultrasound was fine. There was no nutritional counseling because vacation time but I could schedule an appointment should I want one.
I'm going to wait for the labs coming back and if there should be anything off I'm going to make an appointment. The question I had can be asked and answered via e-mail.

Surgery (sleeve) was Monday, 7/6 and today I finally feel a little more human! I've battled headaches, nausea, soreness of course, and I can't sleep more than 2 hours at a time! I am still sore, especially up in my ribs! I'm also very tired and my energy is extremely low. I have a business I work from home but I don't even want to think about it right now! I'm so grateful to have this behind me and finally feel like I am actually on the road to recovery! I'm still on clear liquids until next week. Hopefully then my energy will pick up a bit!!· 1 reply
Hang in there, Judy! I am suffering along with you from a distance. I am hoping that I am turning the corner today. I could really use a good night of sleep too. Cheers with sugar free jello! 😬

Hope you all are keeping it safe and staying sane during these difficult times.
Stress has never been good for food habits and these are odd times so keep working on your mental game and don't beat yourself up too much for any setbacks.
I enjoyed this little video and wanted to share.
I totally agree with you! Mindset is so powerful! There have been times before surgery, and since, that I have started to feel scared or like just throwing in the towel and crying my eyes out! But I keep telling myself that as long as I can stay positive, my recovery will go smoother and I will be so much happier! It's so hard to do right now with all this other going on, but we have to look out for ourselves!!
