I had an appointment earlier today to see my surgeon for a follow up. After talking about my experiences over the past weeks, I was told by the nurse practioner that I was finally at my sweet spot and she would not be adjusting my band anymore. I'd lost 5 pounds since my last visit and she said I was right on track. While the band advertises loosing 2lbs per week, she said in their office they typically see 1/2 to 1 lb per week and I was averaging over 1lb. I don't have to go back for a follow up for 6 months (my band anniversary) unless I feel I need to get in earlier. I must admit I am a little nervous about going on my own and not having those monthly appointments to make sure I'm on track, but then again its time to cut the apron strings. Besides I know I can always make an appointment if needed.
I must admit there has been a lot of other emotional issues that have arised since I've started losing the weight so i am looking to go see a therapist for post-op care. I'm sharing this just in case there's someone else who may be wondering if the emotions and "issues" they are dealing with are unique to them or maybe trying to ignore them; don't. If needed, get help dealing with the issues that made you obese in the first place or tool or not; you'll end up right back there.

I'm a Sleeve newby and can't wait till June tenth .No more sleep apnia, no more blood pressure pills twice a day. I know it probably sounds terrible but to be able to go into a store and take a pants size off the shelf and not hear we dont have your size in the store is going to be awesome. I went to an election dinner last night here in my town and was horrified when I got home to down load the pics to my computer. I actually looked like someone that was swollen from a sickeness or something. I will be taking one more picture before my surgery and thats only for my before picture. So wish me luck.
It’s that time!!! I’m finally graduating from bottles to Gerbers tomorrow. I’m actually waiting until tomorrow for my first trip to the grocery store as I don’t want to tempt myself too much. I’m thinking mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, sloppy Joe with no bun, yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat, tuna with soft avocado and a Ricotta cheese baked dish (there’s a yummy looking recipe somewhere in the forums). Not all in one day, of course!
I can’t believe I made it this far. I literally thought, what the French did I do when I came home from the hospital and now it’s like ok, what’s the next step? This is definitely a journey like no other in my life. I’ve been reading the forums and seeing how people felt just like me after surgery. Regret, pain, anxiety about losing my favorite foods, just to name a few feelings. The bottom line is, we’re here. Decision made. We can’t go back, I mean we can, but then our insurance companies would have a fit and dump us. There are only the possibilities of tomorrow so I need to let any regrets go.

I feel pretty darn amazing! I just got back from getting my first fill. It didn't hurt, just felt a lil weird. I felt the pressure of the injection into my port. Overall, a SUCCESS! I only got 2 cc's, which i think is pretty average on the first time around. I hope I feel some restriction. Hopefully I'm one of those lucky one's who feel it right away! haha! Yeah! I weighed in today and lost 4 pds I am now 385. This is a good start only 3 days into diet and already lost 4 pds. Only 16 more to go before surgery. I can do it. I have faith. Diet was same as yesterday except I changed my dinner to 6 oz of lean turkey breast instead of chicken. Had 3 oz of salad with 2 tbsp Kraft Lite Parmesaen Asiago Vinegrete dressing. Late last night I was going out of my mind I felt like I wasn't full and content. I talked myself into some chips and dip but I only had the suggested servings and I added it in with my calories for the day. I was still under 1200 so I felt better afterwards. I don't know why at night I always have to feel like I have eaten something normal. But my choices are always that good. I really wanted a hot dog from sonic but I was good and talked myself out of it. Then I had to go and do this.
I had a good day today. Noticed I had some extra energy. Had my protein shake for Breakfast and lunch. I was really hungry around dinner time but I fought most temptations. I had 6oz chicken and 1 cup of broccoli and a small apple. But I did have 3 cookies and I was kicking myself right after. I also decided to start walking to and from work and taking the stairs as many times as I can.I also have to watch that I am getting enough calories in for the day. First day only had 399 calories that is really bad. I was really tired and couldn't wait to go to bed. I had 890 today so that is a little better. Have to add a snack in between shakes to offset calories. probably a tbs of peanut butter.
I have an appt tomorrow to make sure I can start introducing foods into my body...I can't wait to eat chew other than swallow I promised my nephew an outing on Sunday and he has requested an Asian restaurant, so I can some egg drop soup or some type of plain noodles with veggies. I still have to drink my protein, but I get to chew........
Well, I am officially a little over 6 months out. I have lost a total of 46 pounds total, including preop. It is coming off slowly, but surely. I have been at a plateau the past couple of months and need to make better food choices and definitely work out more. Overall, though, I am very happy being 46 pounds down. It is 46 less of me that I have to lug around. I am going to Cozumel in just a couple months and my goal is to get down even further and finally invest in some new clothes! Right now, they are hanging on to me for dear life (YES!). I may not have lost as much weight as my friend who had RNY at the same time, but I still feel great and feel this choice is a "for life" commitment. And, on days I feel sad I haven't lost as much, I look at my before pictures and take notice of the weight that IS gone.....forever!
But not in the bad sense of the words. Being a loser can be a good thing if you are obese. LOL!
My weightloss has definitely slowed down and I am good with that. I have made tremendous headway in 11 months since my surgery. May 12th will be one year and I am currently down 103.5 lbs!! Something I NEVER would have thought was possible. My life is so much better and there is so much more to it now. My health has improved. If I was not to lose any more weight I couldn't be more proud of where I have come since that day nearly a year ago when I stepped into the outpatient center for my life changing LapBand surgery.
I enjoy life. I don't worry about diet or food or calories for once in my life. I eat what I like. I eat what I feel like eating. I only avoid those foods that cause issues but sometimes I try them just to see if they still bother me. Yeah I am a sadist.
My favorite food right now is Qdoba's three cheese nachos with chicken. I get the chips on the side. I put black beans, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and guacamole on it. I use probably 10 chips out of the huge bag they give me. Since I have started eating that most days for lunch my weight loss has upped a little. Here's the skinny on it...well not so skinny...1350 cal., 75g fat, 27g fiber, 55g protein. Yeah it is a lot of everything good and bad but that also includes all the chips which I don't eat. Here's the thing, I eat this for lunch 3-4 times a week. Since doing so, it has kick started my weight loss again. I mean that is a lot of protein in one meal and I am addicted to it!! Like I have said before I don't eat low fat intentionally. I eat what I like and try to choose lower fat options. I don't do fat free anything. I don't like it so I am not going to force myself to eat it. What's the point? I want to enjoy life, not struggle with it.

Hello this is my first blog, first let me start off saying I am happy that I made the decision to have the sleeve. I had my life changing event on Feb 22, so that makes me 6weeks out. I lost 22 (310) pounds before the surgery, and another 18 (268) pounds since. I didn’t realize how much work it takes to really work the sleeve, I went in thinking this is my magic cure…and boy was I wrong !!! I have been on a stall two weeks now an it’s kind of frustrating, but it made me look at some of the things that I am doing!! I know for one, I have not been drinking enough water, before surgery water was my best friend after it just had such a nasty taste.. I have been getting my protein but I cut it in half because, I am eating more… I can get down about 3-4oz down per sitting before getting full. I have also been struggling with hunger…it’s like I am hungry all the time even after meals, and it drives me crazy sometimes. The way I dealing with the hunger, I started snacking (not good) now I am chewing gum and drinking water when I get these pangs. Eating 4tiny potions daily, and protein shake/smoothie (with strawberries, and ½ banana, and maybe a slice of pineapple and a scope of protein) Exercise I am working out three times a week about 45min, I am doing about 25min of cardio and 20min on weights. This week my goal is five times week, the two extra days I want to do cardio, I also switched up my routine I started riding the spin bike. I really had to check myself this week because I was starting to go back to some of my old ways…and it is way too early for that!!! I really want to maximize the opportunity…I have been a big girl all my life…and it’s hard to break old and bad habits…but this is something that I have to do a failure is not an option. I love this site…..I don’t mind sharing my struggles with people that actually understand what it is that I am going through.
Well... I thought I saw the finish line, thought after my meeting with the nutritionist i'd be good to go. But no, seems that my blood results were in and boy, were they NOT good. my Vitamin D was less than 7 what ever that means, when it should be in the 20s and I have very low vitamin B12. Soooo off to the endochrinologist. Who wants to do a sonogram since there is a history of throat nodules in my family. So i must jump that hoop on Sat, then she wants me to wait another month for a follow up appointment! Another freakin month?! I was hoping to be a May bandster atleast. But she's dashing that hope. Says she won't clear me till she knows, and I guess I understand that but. I just needed to vent. Feeling really frustrated right now.
I am so proud of myself. My nephew asked me to buy him a pizza for when he comes home from school today. I picked up the pizza and my mouth started watering just from the aroma. It took every willpower in my body not to eat some of the toppings off the pizza and I kept saying it is not worth it, especially, I just started feeling better today. I put the pizza in the oven out of eyesight, and made me protein drink. Any other time, I would have indulge and worried about the consequences later, but I chose not to let my old me take over. Well its been about 6 months since my surgery. I have not lost nearly as much as I was hoping, doing nearly as much as I wish I was ... but I'm losing. Thats all that I came into this whole thing for ... to start losing. I have hit goals ... which is awesome! The first one was to just start losing. With having PCOS it was impossible to lose, I had tried, trust me. And it just never happened. So losing anything feels great! The second goal was to get below 200 lbs. I am currently at 198.4!! Not that far below but I still met my goal That one feels awesome too!
I have gotten a job so I dont really have time to come on here at all ... I just wanted to update everyone though Keep on truckin' ... it might take a while but its definitely worth it
Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I am happy to report that I am 3 weeks post op today and down 14 lbs., 190 baby!!!!! Very exciting for me especially that everyone that has seen me since surgery can really tell I've lost some weight! Woo hoo! I've still been feeling great, except for the vitamins and my tummy are having a hard time adjusting to each other. I hear that this too shall pass. I had my first meal out yesterday with a friend. We went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast and I ordered the same omeIet that I usually do, but of course, ate at the most 1/4 of it. No biggie, I just had some for breakfast this a.m. So down with one of my biggest fears, eating out! It was pleasant to sit there and make the meal about conversation instead of about the food. She even commented to me that I was a big inspiration to her and she ended up only eating half of her meal! That typically would not have happened to either one of us. So all in all it was good, just a little time consuming. Now just trying to work on an eating, taking vitamins, drinking liquids, getting in enough protein, eating the right things (whew!) schedule! It's going to take some time I know, but I'm headed in the right direction! Bye all.
Man o man, I feel so much better today. I beginning to regret that I had the lapband done. Less gas, less bloat, and finally had a BM (not to be gross). Wow, what a difference.
