My MGB is scheduled for April 2017 with Dr Illan in Tijuana. I feel very confident in my choices. They are wonderful to work with and I encourage you to contact them (BariatricPal Team MX). I've done a lot of research and know several people that have gone to Mexico for surgery. I had it narrowed down to 3 different doctors and decided on Dr. Illan for many reasons. Postive results, patient reviews, bed-side manner, before and after surgery support, nutrition support after, surgery in a nice hospital, etc. At first, I was going to do the sleeve, but because I'm over 400lbs and have health issues, I felt it was in my best interest to do the MGB, because it will give me the most weight loss and best results long-term. Dr Illan was very open to letting me decide what was best for me and said I will be very successful with MGB.

I wish you luck in your decision. Don't rush it and do lots of research! These forums and Facebook groups are great for getting info and hearing everyone's experiences.

I am three months post MGB. I don't have any issues drinking milk so it will depend on each individual person and their pouch. I had my surgery with Dr. Illan through BariatricPal TeamMX. It was the best hospital/surgery experience I have ever had. Not all hospitals in Mexico are the same. Oasis of Hope Hospital is a full service hospital, where everyone wheres gloves and they are very attentive, taking your vitals every few hours. They come within a couple of minutes when you press the nurse button, and if there is an issue, they stick with you until it is solved. BariatricPal TeamMX has valets that make sure you and a companion are taken care of. With MGB, you stay in the hospital 3 days and at Pueblo Amigo Hotel and Casino for 2 days. Even at the hotel a doctor comes to check on you each day. You get a starter bag full of liquids you can drink during the first stages of your post op diet. Choosing to have surgery in Mexico with Dr. Illan and BariatricPal TeamMX is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am down more than 45 lbs!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
