Pre op diet concerns !

Recommended Posts

My op is October 17th so a week today I should start my pre op diet .... The problem is I've had no information at all about the pre op diet and when I ring they tell me not to worry they leave it till the last minute.. I feel it's getting nearer and nearer and I still have no idea what I'm doing or what I'm meant to buy .. Has anyone else had this experience?

Usually the pre-op diet starts two weeks before surgery. I started slowly phasing into it so it wouldnt be as difficult to go from eating 3-4 meals of food to drinking all liquids.

I'm scheduled to have sleeve surgery on 21st October and I got a 3 week Optifast and salad vegetable diet pre-op. The main issue with this diet is low sugar, no fat, high Protein, high Vitamins. The idea is to put our body into ketosis to force us to rid our liver of the fat covering it and this causes the liver to shrink back so that when we have surgery, our stomach is more visible making the surgery easier.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
