I'm sitting here in the parking lot waiting to go see the surgeon for my first visit. Gastric surgery is something I have wanted and needed for awhile. This is the first time it has been covered by my insurance. I just hope I don't run into any snafus.

I was so nervous! No worries. They just checked me in and made a patient profile, I met the surgeon and discussed and decided on which surgery I wanted. He checked my belly button, felt my belly, checked for swelling on my legs, and discussed what they did laproscopically. He then brought me to a patient coordinator who discussed what my insurance required of me, scheduled a few appointments, and I was on my way! Easy peasy and comfortable!

It's natural to be nervous, but you should be excited too. Your life is about to change for the better... Go for it and don't look back.

I just had my first appt with nutritionist and psych. They referred me to the surgeon who I am seeing next week. Like you, I am also nervous, but also so happy. I'm still a little nervous re: my insurance, but the surgical coordinator didn't seem too concerned. It all seems so daunting and scary, but I've sort of been living by the saying "get comfortable with being uncomfortable" in this journey. So if I'm nervous, or scared or anxious, it means it's working for me because it's something new!

Best of luck to you, I know you will be great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
