Anyone in the Cleveland area?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Hoping to be sleeved in the near future. Have my first consultation with Dr. Khaitan at university hospitals next week. I work there and have heard nothing but good things about her... Anyone else on here have her as your surgeon and willing to share experiences?

Happy 4th weekend!

-John

Hi!! I have mine with her on aug 11... Go for my pre admit testing next Friday. Did you already have your pre admit testing I'm nervous for the egd...and they said they are doing a chest X-ray and MORE blood work?! I just had like 15 tubes drawn less than 2 weeks ago what more could they possibly be testing! Haha! I'm assuming just one more chemistry and cbc.

I have my first consult with Dr. Khaitan later this month and hope to have surgery the beginning of November. Since it looks like both of you are ahead of me in this process any additional feedback you have would be much appreciated. Good luck to both of you!

She is awesome! She expects her patients to be committed and lose 10 lbs from consult to surgery. She will answer all of your questions in the consult (I had 4 pages of questions! Lol). I had my surgery on the 11th and so far so good with my recovery! I work at UH and have only heard great things and recommendations about her.

I was so glad to find this thread. I just got the approval from my doctor to stay the process. My first supervised weight loss class is this Thursday. I haven't been able to find much about University hospital or the doctors who perform the surgery. This sets my mind at ease as I'm not exactly sure what to expect going forward. For example, I know what my insurance requires, but what is the time frame for approval? Is it after I meet with the surgeon? Or at the end of the six months of weight loss classes? Any comments and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.

They will verify your insurance to make sure it's cover b4 u start. You can always call your insurance company & ask to. Once you are done with all the requirements they will submit the paperwork to insurance. I got my approval in 3 days. Some ppl it takes a few weeks .you can always call & check to once it is submitted

I'm from just outside of the Cleveland area but I've heard wonderful things about University Hospitals. I didn't know they had a Bariatric Center however! I went to my first apt at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in Feb 2016, put the process on hold, but I just called today to start the process again. My apt is 12/16 to speak with the Dr, the Nutritionist & my Patient Advocate.

Hope you are both doing well. I just wanted to check in and see how your recovery has gone and whether or not you have liked working with Dr. Khaitan and UH for your surgery and follow up. My surgery was initially scheduled for November but got postponed until January 31 with Dr. Kaitan at UH Case. Anything you wish you would have know ahead of time? Any thoughts or suggestions on the entire process would be appreciated. Take care!

I love Dr. Khaitan. I was sleeved on April 2, 2015 at UH Geauga. Follow her plan and you will do great. She is so thorough and worked with my GP and pulmonary for my sleep apnea to get all my ducks in a row. I went February 16th and six weeks later I had my surgery. I also had my gallbladder out at the same time. I did have buyer remorse for awhile and went thru depression. But once my GP got my anxiety meds adjusted and I upped my Vitamin B12 and D and got my exercise in I started feeling better than ever. I have lost 100 lbs. and I work at it everyday to maintain. Now I am so happy I had my sleeve done!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
