Hello all, I am a Newbie.

Before my surgery i weighed 267 and surgery was May 12 and i currently weigh 247 and for 1 1/2 weeks ,I have not lost anything. I have maintained 247-246.6

Is this normal?, I have read about the stretching of the pouch, and not chewing your food as fast and drinking Water at the same time. And since i have been reading so much about it ,im scared i will stretch my pouch.

Now when i was loosing a pound a day i was not really eating, just like 3 table spoons of Jello and 3 sips of broth if that and water.

I have now incorporated cottage cheese, hummus here and there and what ever i cook like maybe 4 Table spoons of..

Not sure if i need to stick with just Protein for the whole month or what. Im not so quite sure to know when im getting full. I know when i eat and i swallow at time it hurts, i barf sometime water or soy milk if its like 20 mins after i eat.

Im dreading to call the Dr. But i think i should.

Did anyone else have a stand still, i do exercise like run up the bleachers.

Any help will be appreciated, only those that have had the surgery.

You're in the very well known and discussed three week stall. It happens all the time, and there are literally hundreds of threads just on this forum alone about how a person is panicking since their weight loss has stopped.

Stalls will happen ALL THE TIME over the next year for everyone that is losing weight. No way to tell how long they will last, or how often they will happen, but as long as you are sticking to your doctor's guidelines for food, Protein, and Water intake and doing some gentle activity (ramping up to real exercise as soon as you are cleared to do so), the stalls eventually break and you'll be just fine.

Stalls are the body's way of taking a breather and ramping up for the next round of weight loss. No one loses weight steady; it's always going to be lose some... stall for a week. Lose some more; stall for three weeks... rinse and repeat. :D

And no, you can't stretch your pouch or sleeve out from eating and drinking foods you're supposed to be eating/drinking. Even if you overate, you'd likely just throw up. The stretchy part of your stomach is gone if you had the sleeve surgery. Your stomach will eventually relax once the swelling has gone down and by a year out, it might hold slightly more volume than at 3 months, but it won't grow back or otherwise stretch.

As you already saw in my post, it will happen. My one and only this far lasted a total of 4 weeks. Now don't let that freak you out.

Everyone is different.

But I did see the 5 pound loss last Wednesday, and here I am just shy of a week later and I'm down another 4.

You will start loosing again....no worries.

It is normal but when you are going through it yourself you worry. Especially when it lasted 4 weeks like mine did.

One thing I know now that I didn't prior is to take measurements.

You might not see lower numbers on the scale, but you could be loosing inches. That's a plus too!!

Good luck.

Hiya i was sleeved a few days before you. Ive been in a stall too, frustrating isnt it? Take a deep breath though, you just need to follow your surgeons plan. I am allowed a 1/4 cup at max per meal. So i always stop then even if i dont feel full, cos i dont wanna hurt whats healing.

I am also measuring my waist line. I noticed today that while ive only lost 0.3kg i have lost 4 cms off my waist!!! This was a great motivator cos i know changes are happening to me

Hi. Everyone at one point or another stalls in the progress. As long as you follow the guidelines you were provided you should've ok.

You should ask your dr about it in case.

I was sleeved on 5/29/15. I made my one year

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
