What kind of foods are ok as soft foods sleeve post-op?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering what kind of foods are ok for the soft food stage of my diet. I know I can eat stuff like mash potatoes but I want to know what kind of seasonings are allowed?

any kind of seasoning is allowed as long as your stomach can tolerate it. I had no issues with spices almost immediately post-op. Others do experience some sensitivity, so make sure you go easy on the spices until you are sure they don't disagree with you. Also, I would advise against mashed potatoes. There's no Protein in potatoes. You should instead eat things like cottage cheese, eggs, refried Beans, and yogurt. Those are all high protein foods and getting in your protein as you are healing is critical.

I wasn't allowed potatoes or any other high carb food like that. I was allowed seasonings and sauces and so on, but I had to stick to high Protein foods and green veggies (as long as they were cooked enough to be soft, which meant I rarely ate them since soft green veggies are gross IMO).

As much as I love potatoes I have learned no potatoes, Pasta or bread in my house as I cannot resist. I craved things spIcy, so refried Beans with a little taco sauce or salsa was great. My husband cured his cravings with broth. I needed more substantial things like yogurt and cottage cheese. It is well over two years since we were sleeved, and his loss has been much more than mine. He refuses to eat any carbs. Good luck!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
