Hi everyone. A newbie 5 days post op plication

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. After a fews months of thinking and deciding to go ahead i went for the gastric plication. Am still getting over the effects of the anesthetic but coping well with the liquid only diet. Any tips or advice would be most welcome.

Welcome to the forum. So nice to see someone else who has had a plication. Don't seem to be many of us, though that surgery is more popular in Europe (where you are) than it is in the US.Pretty much all the advice given here for other surgeries apply post plication. You can probably start mushy foods etc a bit sooner than with the other surgeries and advance to solid food a bit faster . Less to heal with a less invasive procedure. Do remember weight loss is slower with a plication so don't compare yourself to VSG or bypass. Congratulations on being on losers bench now. If you have any specific questions please post them. I am sure you will get replies and lots of support.

It's not a mainstream option here in the UK for plication. They prefer either by-pass or sleeve. To be honest I didn't fancy the "plumbing" of by-pass and the removal by sleeve. I hope that weight loss will be gradual for me and am determined to maintain a balance of a healthy diet and exercise.

I've set a fairly aggressive target weight loss and will update here, if it is deemed appropriate.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
