New, cautiously excited, insurance unknown come January

Recommended Posts

Hello!
I'm new here. Have done some lurking, so much here to read, a bit overwhelming! :)
Tentatively started this process this summer, got yanked around by insurance company, finally officially started the process in Sept, but do not know if my insurance will cover WLS come January. Ugh! Hard to get to excited about the idea when it might all come to an end in month 4 - but figured I might as well start jumping through the hoops in case they do still cover come 2016.
I know if it is meant to be... it will all work out one way or another. BUT I hate unknowns! :P :)
Just wanted to vent somewhere. Trying not to think about it all too much. So hard to do!

Health Insurance advocate here:

Did you make your insurance elections for 2016 yet? If you did, there should be a list of coverage exclusions in the summary of benefits section of the plan that you selected. If it's specifically listed as an exclusion, it won't be covered regardless of any medical conditions. But it it's not specifically listed as an exclusion, it may be covered if medically necessary.

Or, you can call your insurance company & ask them. They may have access to the 2016 information now. Good Luck!

No, December won't happen, my Dr (and current insurance plan) require 6 mos.

Yes, my husband has filled out his open enrollment for next year. Just got papers, and bariatric is not on the exclusions list. That is the most I know. Planning to call next week and ask.
Hubby has been very sick with something unknown for over 2 mos... it has kind of distracted me from my own health journey. He seems to be getting better (VERY slowly) so I should have some brain space for my own issues.

Thanks for the replies!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
