I used to have an omelet with all kinds of veggies for Breakfast every day , now I have tried scrambled, over easy and the smell and the taste almost make me sick. I threw up the scrambled and only got 2 bites of the over easy down. has anyone else had this problem with eggs? They have always been a staple in my diet and I loved them. No problem with cholesterol 144 so Dr, says go for it!...Please tell me if you have had similar experiences . thanks Divagirl23

I never had an issue with eggs, but I've heard it's very common early out. You may want to wait a while when you're further out and try again.

Add a splash of milk and a pat of butter to your wisked eggs and then scramble them really soft, almost runny. When they are cooked too "well". they hit my 2.5 year out tummy like a brick and I usally horf them back up. If they are really wet, I can not only eat them, but they are extremely satisfying and filling.

The added butter is the trick along with the soft cook.

I made mine really soft, almost custard consistency. I added a tsp of greek yogurt and a tiny bit of shredded cheese then cooked over a low heat stirring frequently. The softness of the eggs made them perfect for the soft foods stage. I then added chopped spinach and other veg as I got further along. Never had an issue with them. 3 mths out I went to iHop and was able to order a vegetable omelet no problem. I still could only eat 4 bites, but it didn't bother me.

I would think within the next month you should be able to have sauteed veggies if they are soft enough, but that's a good question for your surgeon or NUT if you have one.

What about chili or Soups? Have you tried those? Also, I love The World According to Eggface's blog. She has a lot of great recipes for each stage! Here's a link to some of her soft food recipes:

eggs make me barf, pretty much every single way I have tried them. I also used to like them in an omelette with veggies and sometimes over easy with a piece of toast. Nope, puke. I'm at 2 years and still can't tolerate egg.

Depends on your system. Check with your nutritionist to be sure. Try a ricttota bake. Basically the filling for stuffed shells topped with cheese and Tomato sauce baked in a ramekin. Good Protein and filling. If your NUT allows it, chopped sauteed spinach is one of the easier veggies to take in at first. Spinach is also a good source of Vitamins & Fiber with a bit of Protein to boot. Also you can swap out plain greek yogurt for sour creme. I prefer FAGE 0% greek yogurt. It's less fat than regular sour cream and a nice bit of protein.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
