Recommended Posts

Can someone please help me. I have been having diarrhea and can not eat for the past 2 day. I am 7 weeks out post surgery.

You probably should call your doctor or head to the ER. Getting dehydrated is a real danger.

I agree, call your Dr. or make a trip to the ER. This is nothing to mess around with. Especially if you are unable to eat.

I've had diarrhea every day, since I got home from the hospital, 5 weeks ago. I am able to eat though. Problem is, it pretty much goes right through me. They can't figure it out yet, referring me to a Gastroenterologist if Imodium doesn't help, but I don't want to be on imodium the rest of my life either. It's getting to be a bit much, day after day of this.

Hopefully you are at least drinking Water if you are unable to eat. Your doctor should have a resident on call. By Monday you could be severely dehydrated.

Agreed, you should call your surgeon's answering service for an after hours call. They may tell you to go to the ER anyway but I agree that you should not wait.

Call your surgeon. Ask for a C diff PCR test (the ELISA test has a high false negative rate).

@ I assume your doctor has already done this.....

My opinion is you might want to stop Protein Shakes for a test. Pedialyte mixed with lots of Water helped me when I had an issue.

My doc says Protein tells your stomach to release acid to digest..., but if there is nothing there but liquid... No meat or any digestibles. It can go right through you.

Good luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
