What is your exercise of choice? What works for you?

Recommended Posts

So I love the outdoors....I'm love to ride my snowmobile, dirtbike and my horses.. I enjoy some short morning workouts, but if I had a choice I would be outside doing something else...like walking my dogs or hiking, or fishing. I love snowboarding but at 5 degrees it's not that fun. And a lot of the slopes are closed during the week.

My problem is the past few days it's been really cold...what do you do to stay active while stuck indoors?

What have you had the best luck with?

What program do you use to stay tone?

I would like to tone up but not get too bulky!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I am soooo not an outdoorsy type! I wish I were. My hubby loves to hike, go off the beaten path, and indoor rock climbing (he'd do the real thing if we lived near the real thing). I do, however, love swimming. I'm an Aug birthday so we always had pool parties growing up. Luckily there is a community center near me that has an indoor pool. And it's only like 1.50 per visit if I don't get a season membership. I don't go all the time, but it is nice to be in a heated pool rather than fighting negative numbers! My main form of movement is walking in the afternoons. But I live near Dallas so I am hardly facing the cold weather almost everyone else is!

@keeper- swimming sounds soo nice! I used to rock climb alot! Till life got so busy and we moved..i was never exceptional at it but it is alot of fun....this cold weather is making me very unhappy...lol. i like walking too....this cold has me indoors alot. So i have been incorporating weights. I tried p90x, but i am honestly NOT ready for that...i need some fun..not punishment. I get bored easily :/

@@funky_monkey800, yes! I agree with you totally. I am so not ready for something like p90x. My brother in law swears by crossfit as well, but I feel like I need to lose some weight before I can handle something with higher intensity.

We got flurries today and I am so not having it. I don't need 4 seasons - I would be happy with 65-75 year round!!

@Keeper...that weather, 65-75 would be ideal!!!! There are just so many moves that I can't do..especially at a fast pace! Lol....maybe when I get a bit stronger..

I hit up the treadmill or the bike. Then I do stretching, isometric exercises, or weightlifting that works multiple musclegroups. Never the same thing two days in a row.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
