Just a quick question. I am 3 weeks post op and just finishing my soft food phase and starting regular food this weekend. I have not had any problems with the progression but today I had a salad with grilled chicken and I now have wicked heart burn:( The salad part was a spring mix and I thought I chewed it really well. Has anyone else had trouble with eating salad?

i just got cleared for salad 4+ weeks out. my nutritionist said many peole have problems with lettuce because it is impossible truly digest cellulose, so she wanted me to be very leary of it. . i had butter lettuce leaves and those im ok with, but iceberg and any kind of raddichio or spinach leaf and i know it for many hours.

I cannot tolerate salads and never thought about trying different types of greens like butter lettuce or spinach. I just assume salads are out for me.

It's worth a shot, eat slowly.

Well i eat romaine, tomatos, mushrooms, carrots, cucumber, radishes, bell pepper,in my salad and never have a problem. I had my gastric sleeve surgery last november 20th. But before surgery i had a Iron stomach and was raised on hot sauce and chili. I am not sure if that had anything to do with it, but i can eat anything at this point. I hope it gets better for you...Bajagal. :P

I started trying a few pieces of "hearts of romaine" lettuce about 5 days post op. No problems. I'm 2 weeks post op and have no problems eating a salad. I'm like bajagal101, with the Iron stomach and always eaten spicy foods and peppers. Just give it time. I hope it gets better for ya'll.

Thank you for everyone's advice. I think I will try my next salad with romaine lettuce and see what happens. That might be a little more plane than spring mix. Thanks again :)

Im nearly 7 weeks post op and was advised for salad to be one of the last thing to be reintroduced into my diet as it is hard to digest. I do miss a good salad though! I'll probably try one soon.

I have had problems with iceberg lettuce , I can tolerate a little romaine. I rarely eat salad only if I got out to eat where the options are limited for healthy eating. grilled chicken ceaser is okay . digesting it I think is the problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
