How long before you were discharged after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I was discharged after 24 hours, I'm wondering if that's normal. The post op pain has only slightly gotten better by today (day 5) and I'm wondering if it's because i left the hospital so soon.

How long were you there?

My surgeon said the normal release is 1-2 days, but most of his clients stayed 2 days. I stayed 2 days which was good because I was still in a decent amount of pain the day after.

I was in the hospital four to five days, can't really remember. I had issues with not drinking anything, not being able to go to the bathroom. So no Protein intake at all. They would not discharge me until I could go to the bathroom, took days.

I stayed two days. Had a difficult first night and my surgeon decided I earned an extra nights stay.

I got out of recovery & was in my room around 5:30pm, and went home the next day around 2pm. My surgeon offered me a second night, but I just wanted to be in my own bed & I wasn't experiencing any kind of complications.

My surgery was at 7:30 AM Dec 10th and I was discharged at 9 pm Dec 11th. I could have stayed another night but decided that I would be more comfortable at home.

I haven't had surgery yet but they have told me I will be in for 1-2 days depending on any possible complications. When I had the band put on ten years ago they had me up and walking about an hour after surgery, then the next day they took a bunch of us into town to shop and walk (mainly get us out walking). I was in the hospital for two nights but I was in Mexico, too.

Four days for me but that was because I lived over 100 miles from the hospital and the doctor wanted to make sure there were no complications.

I had surgery on Nov 17 (10am) and i was discharged around 12pm the next day. I was walking and moving the day of surgery and the entire morning the following day. Everyone is different. I wasn't in too much pain, it was just mainly nausea from the anesthesia and lots of gas

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
