I just scheduled my preop testing for December 30th! I'm super excited to be taking this step to better myself. Any advice on how to make the next couple weeks easier would be appreciated! Thanks!

Congratulations!

I was just banded yesterday, and, like you, it was a journey of nerves, excitement, and everything in between. I've been where you are!

The best thing you can do is research, research, research. Read everything you can get your hands on. Research your surgeon and make sure you are getting your consult and surgery from the best.

Watch you tube videos - Dr. O'Brien's "8 Golden Rules of Lap Band" - very sound information for you there.

Half the preparation is mental and emotional - getting prepared for this wonderful and enormous life change!

The surgeon I'm using came highly recommended by several people and I've had a really good experience with his office so far. I've read everything I can find on the internet about the procedure, and preop and post op diet. There are still things that I'm not sure about. I've read different guidelines about diet restrictions from many different sources, but until I have my preop consultation I'm not sure what my surgeon will recommend. I wish you the best of luck on your recovery! And please keep me updated so I can know what to expect when it's my turn! :)

Read and stay connected here and ask ask ask the NUT and your surgeon every question you have. Write down the questions and the answers in a notebook. I also started going to three different hospital WLS support group meetings within fifty miles of my home. They each only met once a month and I needed more info and connection than that. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
