Hi,

I'm from Ottawa, Canada and have been to the group information session and going to my 1st surgical consult this week. Anybody else from Ottawa going to the WMC?

Looking forward to my appointment and the next steps.

My experience with Weight Loss Surgery has been life-saving. So thankful for this procedure. Hang in there, the process takes time, but it's worth it.

@@anewme15 - I started the process with the information session in January 2014. Met with NP, had ultrasound, endoscopy and then dietician & behaviourist. I am now waiting to hear from the booking clerk. I was told that I might be booked for the pre-surgery class in January. I am so excited! I am lucky because I have a few family members who got the bypass surgery (5 & 7 yrs ago) and they are coaching me. My wife is also a patient at the WMC. Because of her recent diagnosis of celiac disease, she will not be able to get the Roux-en-Y surgery. However, she is hoping to be a candidate for the sleeve. It is great to be able to have support at home!

@@Tintin, That is so great for you! I went for the info session in July and got my 1st appointment on Dec 4. Abdomen ultrasound is Dec 23 and meeting the dietician/behaviorist on Jan 23. Any tips you can give me?

This is so exciting and please keep me updated. It's nice that you will do this with your wife also!

hi! I am from Ottawa too!! I just saw the surgeon on Thursday and am waiting for them to call me with my date. The process has taken almost 2 years. Thee surgeon said i can expect my surgery in the next 2 to 4 months. I have all my Vitamins, Protein, and everything I need post-surgery in place. I can't wait. My hubby had it done over 2 yrs ago, and is down about 130lbs.

@@jcmo : I have heard this before that some people have been waiting almost 2 years. I find it a bit long but if it means that we have a better chance of success, I am all for it!

Glad to hear that you are almost there....keep us posted. I wish there was a pre-op support group that we could attend. It would give us all the chance to meet others and share.

At my latest appointment at the WMC clinic I asked them why it was taking so long. I was told that they are getting better with the wait times. I hope to have this done soon too.

They always tell you that the wait times are getting better, but they really don't. Always expect longer than they tell you.

Thank you jcmo.....I've heard that too. This is why I try not to get too excited.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
