Overcoming half way point apathy

I have reached my half way point and lost steam. I find it all too easy to tell myself "you're good". Skip tracking and start snacking. It's hard to stay motivated when the the compliments keep rolling in. "You look fabulous!" "You're melting away". I realize this isn't the end of the race here, but it's so easy to slack. At this point. Actually my visit with my surgeon and nutritionist yesterday, showed a 3 lb gain. They took that quite seriously. I'm kinda glad because I need to wake up now, not 10-20lbs later. Many friends blow it off as "you're gaining muscle" or "it's probably just Water weight". What I need is my bariatricpal family to give me a push to get my swing going again. Anyone else overcome the "halfway apathy" virus?

Oh yeah. Mine was the 2/3 of the way and it took me nearly 2 years to get back my mojo.

I'm a little past halfway and got back in my groove two weeks ago. I ditched daily weighing, started the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet, and started working daily intensely on the psychological issues underneath my food addiction. I'm back on track and feeling more energized than ever.

By the time I reached my 1/2 way point, which was a little over 6 months, my band really started to kick in, became very comfortable learning how to live within the Green Zone, quit counting calories and measuring portions by then, quit using any tracking apps,

just let the band take over and found my "Groove" After that, it was all an effortless breeze, a new easy lifestyle of eating and exercising...and still is today....the "New Normal"

I hit my goal without any problems, and went beyond to a point I never felt was imaginable....I have faith in the band to do what it was designed to do and what I expected it to do prior to surgery....

Definitely nothing else I could do...otherwise I would have not needed to do this.

I wish it came that easily for mr B-52. I still have to keep focus or I will get too complacent.. I am glad that it has worked well for you that way. I do believe that the band makes it much easier for me to focus, but I still must make the right choices.

I know just what you mean sleepingarby. I'm one of the very successful folks on this forum and it's still not second nature to me and likely never will be. I went food shopping yesterday and found myself looking way to longingly at foods I know I should not eat.

I haven't been tempted like that in a long time but it was a good lesson for me. Do not assume you are cured. food is an addiction for me, of that I am convinced. And like any other addiction, the craving can sneak up on you no matter how successful you've been.

I do believe that the only thing one can do at these times, is to fight the urge however we need to until that craving or feeling goes away. If you give in to that 'I've been good and deserve a reward' mentality, you will find the weight creeping on. Maybe try to find another way to reward yourself for good behavior? That's what I did last night. I'm an avid reader so I bought a few books on Amazon. I still have a half dozen that I haven't read yet, but there was one in particular I wanted to read, so I bought it along with a couple others. It could also be something as inexpensive as a manicure.

This was a good idea as well...coming onto the forum. If you find it keeps you accountable, good. Keep coming here and we'll help to support you.

I know how you feel. I reached goal now my mind wants to tell my body, that I've achieved what I set out to and now I can stop. Problem is, if I stop, I'll slip back into the old habits. What I did when I was at the point you are (almst there :) ) I put small goals in place and worked hard to reach them. Set 5 pound goals, size goals, exercise goals etc and put everything into those goals. You'll be there before you know it. Don't let your guard down yet.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

      Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs. 
      I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm. 
      I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order. 
      My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
