Congrats and welcome to the loser's bench! Walking is the only thing that helped me. Good thing it doesn't last too long.

I've had surgeries in the past and got the bad gas pains -- keep moving, walking... my doctor even told me that sitting in a rocking chair and rocking helps... just got to have the body moving to work that gas out. It's inside the abdominal cavity, so the gas-x strips don't help... it only works on stomach gas.

Best wishes on a fast recovery!

congrats! im still in the pre-op stages. im axious about my upcoming surgery. ive had my gallbladder removed I understand all about gas pains! I felt like someone had dropped me on the floor off the table. im glad youre feeling better. I hope my dr gives me some strong pain meds as well. Tylenol just doesn't do it for me either.

@@Cupcake welcome home and especially welcome to the rest of your life! As for the gas well in time it will work itself out. I know it's uncomfortable but the time will pass so will the gas. ;-)

Keep moving. I didn't think the gas -x helped at all. I made myself do laps around the house every hour.

Congrats on your surgery! It's such a major event in our lives, and something we should be proud of! As far as the gas, I'm with everyone else, WALK! It's the only way to get it moving, and out of your body!

GOOD LUCK!!

Heating pads will also help with the gas but moving around is the best.

These suggestions helped me as well! Today I think I drank a little too much too soon. I have felt pressure in my upper quadrent and chest. Hiccups, burps. Don't know if I have to let that feeling pass before I begin to sip again? Any suggestions? How much time in between do you rest before drinking again. Perhaps I've just been sipping all day without any real purposefulness....does that makes sense?

Rome I would try walking more to relieve that pressure stop sipping until the pressure is gone if your mouth gets dry duck on ice chips or a Popsicle I hope this helps you good luck my friend .

CUpcake:

I have been able to walk a bit more and it seems to be doing better. All I know is that I really am hungry! I thought my hunger was supposed to be diminished lol! I really don't think it's the head hunger thing. All I know is that I can hardly wait to get on the full liquids...a little pudding would even feel substantial at this point!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
