How soon after multiple procedures can you resume exercise (Zumba)

Recommended Posts

I'm addicted to Zumba and I'm planning on having a Tummy Tuck, face and neck lift, Breast Augmentation, butt and

thigh lift and a brachioplasty. I'm not sure how many procedures they'll do at the same time, but how long after surgery can you resume activity such as Zumba

It is always best to follow your doctors recommendations, however I feel some doctors are telling patients that has had multiple procedures to resume normal activity a little too quickly in my own personal opinion.

I know I had to wait many months. I was instructed by my plastic suregeon to stay off my feet as much as possible. Plastic surgery recovery is slow. The body expends a lot of energy healing, so even if you feel like exercising your body will not have enough energy to do it early on. Your will feel tired a lot.

It took me about 7 months before of could resume exercising the same way I did before my surgery. Don't get me wrong, I was exercising, but I was taking it slow and easy. After having multiple procedures, it is not a good idea to rush recovery by exercising too soon. Exercise will always be there once your body is ready and you have recovered.

Sweet Pea, without being able to exercise, how hard was it to not gain weight during recovery? Did you keep calories below a certain level?

Not at first. Right after surgery, I had to force myself to eat. I can still remember my Dr G telling me over and over again "you must eat!" (Smile)

Later on, yes, I made sure to only feed my body with healthy foods to avoid weight gain. Also, with my tiny tummy and the compression garment on, it was hard to hold much food anyway. I knew it was more important for me to heal first before exercising.

9 months after my plastic surgery, on March 1, 2014, I ran my first 15K marathon. You see, exercise will always be available, but after plastic surgery, give your body time to heal. Trust me, time will pass, and you will be back to exercising in no time.

Great question Amy, I'm a Zumba addict too :) Not sure if I'll pursue plastics but I have noticed that the extra skin slows me down in class a bit. I stop moving but my inner thighs don't! Makes me feel like I lag behind just a tad. Good compression pants help a little bit.

Hello I myself have looked into having a Brazilian butt lift and Lipo once I lose a little bit more weight I already have seen two surgeons who told me that for the first three months of any extensive plastic surgery I would have to be at least 4 months most importantly you need to give your body time to heal. After having a lot of plastic surgery your swollen for several months and they don't recommend extensive workouts. I'm pretty sure that you're spending a good amount of money on having the procedures done you wouldn't want anything to go wrong. hope that helps :)

I was fully released at 6 weeks to cardio and weights but not direct core in full sit up. Cautioned to ease in until 8 weeks. Full core at 8 weeks. That's pretty standard for American surgeons but there are defiantly variations. There are many complete answers by surgeons on RealSelf.com

Search for exercise post op, or specifically your procedures.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
