Stalled in 12th month

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am taking to the airwaves to get some help from people who understand our unique issues and surgery. I am 12 months out on April 29th. I had my surgery on April 29th, 2013. I did great for the first 6-7 months then I hit a stall. I began experimenting with foods and found there isn't any food that I can't eat or that will make me ill. I also started snacking again. I was down as much as 70 pounds and now seem to fluctuate back and forth between 8-10 pounds. I have 30 pounds to reach my goal and keep finding that I mess up one day and make an effort to start again the next day. My exercise is little because I have very little time to myself.

I am doing all the things I shouldn't and know better. Any suggestions from others that have gone through this and made it? Really desparate.

I'm actually struggling with the same thing now. I'm 7 months post op, and i keep bouncing between 289-294. its frustrating. However, what has helped me is switching up my workout routine.

It kinda sounds like you already have a good handle on whats going on. It's just the mental battle now. That is one of the reasons we tell folks who are pre-op, that it will not help head hunger or making wrong decisions. I wish you the best of luck in changing your decision for the better. The well known advice for snacking is to keep them out of the house, and the grocery cart. Those little Special K chips like the Kettle Corn and Sea Salt and such, are the worst for snacking, because for about 27 chips its only like 120 cals or so, and so it gives me good excuse to eat em and still feel like I'm doing good! I had to keep them out the house to be safe. Take care.

I am in the same situation 1 year out

20 lbs to go, but have lost nothing for 5 months.

Just can't seem to stay on track

Wow, we have a lot in common. I too had my surgery a year ago (May 29th though) and have been stalled. This past month I have lost and gained the same 3 lbs (I know that may not seem a lot but I am trying to loose the last 30 lbs to hit my goal) I do not exercise like I should and have may excuses as to why. The biggest is that when I do get into a routine, I gain weight (yes I realize muscle weight is a factor) and hate the frustration of "doing whats right without the reward of weight loss.

I find if I eat carbs early in the day, I am grazing all day and can't seem to stop eating till I get in bed. So..... I try to stay away from carbs and choose Protein Snacks.

This is very hard to do at the present time. I am struggling with depression and PTSD related to a bad situation at my employment. I quit my job in January and don't know if I will ever be able to work again. Being home all day makes it hard to stay on track with weight loss and sticking with a diet.

I decided last week to seek counseling for PTSD and depression. I hope this will help me sort things out.

As for suggestions: I am constantly telling myself that the food I choose is up to me and the choices I make are what will help me loose weight or gain weight. As for exercise.... I am still working on this one.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
