And the Journey Begins

:thumbup:Just got my approval from Aetna today. Surgery scheduled for 12/22/09 and I will be starting 2 weeks of Optifast next week. I'm so excited. If anyone else was/is on Optifast, does it make you feel full?

Hi There and welcome to the december delights!

we have two threads going one in pre op

and one under the community tab/social groups December 2009.

shakes has been a BIG topic for us so come on over and check it out!

Congratulations on your Aetna approval! I have just started the approval process with them, so can you tell me how long it took you to get approved? Did you have the 3 month waiting period? Thanks for any info you may wish to share and good luck with everything.

:tongue2:

I have Aetna HMO

once my PCP referred me _ went thru the 6 months process of nutrition visits and a pysch visit when those were done the doc submitted to Aetna and I got the approval in 6 days.

My understanding is with Aetna PPO its a 3 months process then you submit for approval

I have Aetna HMO and I had to do a six month supervised diet, shrink eval, and meet with a nutritionist. I started the process in May, had my last appt Nov 24, packet was submitted the day before thanksgiving and approved the Monday after thanksgiving.

Welcome charole', I just had my band done on the 25th :)

and I had 2 weeks of opti-fast before surgery. I mixed it with decaf coffee and splends mocha flavor packs (0 calories) and it made a large drink. I would be pretty full, I had to drink 5 a day and it got old, but I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks doing them. I had a couple of times I had a piece of cheese or yogurt and still lost the weight. Good luck and you can do it, it's the worse part (besides waiting for approval). Let me know if I can help or suggest anything.
