  1. Thanks for sharing everyone. It's nice to know I am not alone in Bandster Hell! I was banded on 3/17 and am really starting to feel those hunger pains. I nearly cried as I watched my hubby have pizza for dinner last night - LOL. I am still on liquids, but I see my surgeon tomorrow, so maybe I can graduate early to mushies. Hang in there everyone -- it's going to be worth it!
  2. Hi fellow bandsters to be. Tomorrow is my surgery day and I just had to tell you since the only other person I've told is my husband. Thanks for all of the great info on the boards. I am a bit nervous, but thanks to my dr. and this site, I think I know exactly what to expect. I will check in post - op. Wish me luck!
  3. Hi everyone - I am officially a member of your group now that I have my surgery date -- March 3. I am so excited to take this step at getting my health under control. I am 42, current weight is 225, BMI is 35 and I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Insurance is taking care of the cost. I'm getting banded by Dr. Robert Pinnar at Reston Hospital in Virginia. I started this journey in Nov. 09 and was rejected by my insurance once, before I received approval today. I've completed all my testing except for the surgery sign off by my internist. I start the liquid diet on 2/24 and am anxious about that as well as re-training my brain on how to eat! Go March Bandsters!
  4. Congratulations on your Aetna approval! I have just started the approval process with them, so can you tell me how long it took you to get approved? Did you have the 3 month waiting period? Thanks for any info you may wish to share and good luck with everything. :tongue2:
  5. Congratulations on your approval! I am also with Aetna, so anytime I hear good news like this, it makes me happy. I'm just starting the 3 month process, so I hope to get banded in Feb. or March. Sounds like you have had positive results with Aetna so far -- yippee! Good luck to you!
  6. Thanks to all of you for your replies. I still have a lot of thinking to do! Good luck to all of you!
  7. I just had my first doctor's appointment and I have to go through a 3 month weight loss program before my surgery, so my surgery date hasn't been set. The only person who knows that I will be getting banded is my husband. I'm unsure about telling my friends and my family for fear of hearing that this is just another gimmick or hearing that they wish they could get the band too. None of my immediate family or friends is obese, so they have no concept of what a struggle weight loss is. Do I tell others? Who did you tell?
