Sorry to disagree with what you just said but pasta and rice are not complex carbs or bread. Complex carbs are carbs you get from healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. Simple carbs come from foods that have to be processed.

When mentioning pasta, rice and bread I was refering to brown, whole grain or soy - the only kind I eat. Sorry I omitted that info, but they are still complex carbs. The following information can be found at many nutritional website: -

Natural complex carbohydrates food list

Complex carbs (carbohydrate) foods are basically those in wholegrain form such as wholegrain breads, oats, muesli and brown rice. Complex carbs are broken down into glucose more slowly than simple carbohydrates and thus provide a gradual steady stream of energy throughout the day. Natural carbs are also a better choice when losing weight on the G.I diet plan.

Here's a list of complex carbohydrates foods.

  • Grapefruit
  • Turnip Greens
  • Buckwheat
  • Apples
  • Lettuce

Bad Breath Issue--Could be ketosis--which is a GOOD thing (when your body goes into fat burning mode)

My doc also wants me to wait 4 weeks between 1st and 2nd fill. As per my previous post--I am not doing so well :). Hurry up EOM and get here!!!! lol

Has anyone ever eaten a Lentil?? What do they taste like and what do you do with them? Sorry if I sound dumb, but obviously I didn't grow up eating things that are good for you :)

A lentil is a bean. I've had the soup. It's delicious!!! Google it...lol

Just checking in. It has been forever since I posted. I just got my second fill today. I am starting to feel some restriction finally. The only problem is that my heads tells me I'm hungry, but my pouch says I am not. It is difficult because I am use to eating a certain amount of food and I still want to do that.

I am so close to losing 50 pounds that it is killing me because the scale has been stuck for over a week. It didn't help with super bowl yesterday and I did not eat the way i was suppose to.

Do you guys find that you enjoy exercising now? I find that if I miss a day, I am actually upset over it. I go 5/6 days a week at an hour each time and really enjoy going.

I'd say it depends on how the chili is prepared.

If it is very runny, I'd say it would easily be classified as a slider, since it will slip right through the band.

However, if it's like I make it, very thick and chunky and not much liquid, then I'd say it is not a slider. The last batch I made I used ground turkey breast, onion, can of roasted Mexican style tomatoes, diced, 1 can of tomato sauce, 1 can kidney beans, 1 can of pinto beans (rinsed both beans), as well as cumin, chile powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder.

I cook it until it is nice and thick. It is full of protein and fiber. And, if you add even more veggies, like bell peppers, etc., it has even more nutrition in it.

If you are thinking of Wendy's chile, I'd say it would run towards a slider, but if you strain most of the liquid off, then you'd have a non-slider.

We had chilli tonight and no sliding for me... Had it a couple hrs ago and still full.. I had it full of veggies, spinach, celery, asparagus, onions, garlic, beans, with turkey as well.. Yummy..

and now I am enjoying a cup of green tea...

Quick and easy lentils ....

1) 2 and 1/2 cups of water

2) 1/2 cup of lentils

3) salt & pepper

4) Olive oil

5) Hot sauce.

Put the lentils and water in a pot and bring to a full boil,

lower to a simmer and add 1 tsp olive oil, salt pepper and hot sauce to taste.

Continue to cook until lentils are soft and water turns lentil colored (if water completely evaporates, add 1/2 cup water and continue to simmer until water changes color.

Have fun.....I used to put these over pasta....but after the surgery, I found that I liked them alone! I am sure you will too!

Hi Tracy,

I have always hated exercising - just could not stand all that bouncing around, huffing and puffing etc, but my doc really pushed me. Now, (after surgery) I find I'm liking it more and more and it feels sooo good when you stop! I mentioned this to DH last night (an avid jogger) and he said the brain release endorphins, which gives you that pleasure sensation after exercising - sort of like getting a high from it. I too find I can't miss a day.:cursing:

I had my second fill yesterday afternoon. Got 0.6 ccs, bringing me up to 5.6 ccs. No problems with finding the port this time, I just laid down, he felt my side, popped in the numbing medication, then in went the huge butt needle and voila! It was in.

He likes to take out all the fluid first then put it all back in till full. Let me tell you, when he filled it all the way up, I could feel it close off my tummy! It didn't hurt, but it did feel odd. I did the normal drink water till I felt it at the back of my throat, then he let out fluid until the water went through quickly.

Last night I ate some of the shredded pork I made with maybe a 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes topped with green chili from hubby's restaurant.

The nurse did tell me to lay off the yogurt in the mornings, she said it's my new ice cream, so no more (since it slides right through and won't sustain the full feeling). So this morning I brought an egg that I'll scramble with some string cheese and salsa.

I go back in two weeks for my next fill.

I, too, had my second fill yesterday. I'm now at 5ccs in a 10 band. Don't feel much from it and am on mushies today. Will keep you all posted!!! I think I'll have Cream of Wheat for breakfast....

I am so close to losing 50 pounds that it is killing me because the scale has been stuck for over a week. It didn't help with super bowl yesterday and I did not eat the way i was suppose to.

I am in the same place. Just about to 50 and my scale is STUCK, STUCK, STUCK. :cursing: UGH!! I'm trying to hit the gym tonight and drink TONS of water to see if I can get it moving again!

I saw Dr. Wonderful today for my 6 week checkup .

I have lost a total of 15 lbs with 8 of them being since my last appt.

He said I am doing fine...he isn't really too concerned with the actual weight loss right now....just getting the right eating habits. I was asked 5 times if I was working out ( good thing I could say YES!)

We discussed the fact that I am getting hungry now at the 3.5 hour mark so he did a small fill. He gave me 1cc so I have 5cc now.

The fill was so easy..I was so nervous.

He pushed some of the paper up behind me as a pillow and then I laid back he felt around...and then told me to exhale and push my tummy out against his hand. It was over in two seconds---- giving blood hurt more than this. I could feel the saline going it...it was a weird sensation. Liquids for the rest of the day, mushies tomorrow, and I can start eating normal again at the end of the week---but avoid bread and steak.

I have to start eating my breakfast later in the day. Because I gave up coffee and go to work...I was having a protein shake in the morning. I was having it right when I get up. Now I am supposed to wait at least 1.5 hours before eating and he wants me to move away from the shakes and eat more solids.

That's about it........oh...funny story....when I went to the support group I ran into someone I know from work. We don't work together but we work with people who work with each other. She was there because she is planning to get the band. We were SHOCKED to see each other and we pinky sweared not to tell anyone.
