Why do liberals Hate Sarah Palin?

Recommended Posts

PG,

I don't give anyone a pass as you call it. They both said something that offended people. The difference, Pat said it about whole host of a country and what was said was not with admiration.

Oh come on! Pat said it about a whole host of a country and Reid said what he said about a whole host of black people. Neither said what they said with 'admiration'.

There you go again reading in your own interpretation not to mention the fact that you were the one who said you just can't interprete what you want something to say. Hypocrite. Read the quote again. Better still read the book and TRY to figure out the context besides the word Negro. Despite what you think, people using the negro word is not always racist. My parents use it all the time. Nobody could have interpreted Pat's idiocy for anything other than saying death was upon Haitians because they made a pack with the devil. Nobody.

Yes, that is true and the fact that someone would argue with that is just plain strange. Unless you take into account that the person saying it is grasping at straws to make excuses for someone with whom they share mean thoughts. Of course if you're mistaking what Reid said as being racist and you give them a pass, then that says a lot too.

This whole line of thinking is screwed up. There's no sense in trying to explain the differences to someone who used the comparison in the first place. Of course she's going to defend her statement. And if you really look at what she's saying, you'll understand why she thinks they are comparable. She excuses them both. Do you think she's just being generous of spirit?

Speaking of mean thoughts - here's another example of "compassionate" conservatism (an oxymoron if I ever heard one!!!) From the daily kos:

A few days ago, it was Pat Robertson who let slip one of the old myths about Haiti. God had cursed it, Robertson claimed, because those black slaves had made a deal with devil to get rid of the French. Don't think that Robertson made that story up on the spot. He had picked it up somewhere: from his FFV family, as he studied for his Yale Law degree or sitting at the knee of his U. S. Senator father.

Now comes Andre Bauer, Lieutenant Governor (edited--thanks to comments) of South Carolina, with the following wisdom, also oft-repeated around the dinner tables of the wealthy:

Read the unbelievable things he said after the break:

"My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed," Bauer said, according to the Greenville News. "You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a
person
ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better."

This gives new meaning to the republican agenda of "Starve the Beast".

Any one who repents of their wrong doing (no matter what it is) and is truly sincere, will be forgiven and may enter into Heaven when they die if they are trusting in Jesus to get them there. YES! This is true.

Your destination is not based on your life deeds whether they were good or bad deeds. It is based on your faith. Only Jesus is capable of getting you into Heaven. You can't be good enough. It's not possible. Since God can have not one speck of sin in his presence, no one will be able to meet him, unless we go through Jesus. He took our just discipline for our sins and when God looks at us, he sees his Son, Jesus, and allows us entrance. We are free from the laws of sin and death!

One of the things that I appreciated about the Catholic religion was that they said that if you go forth and sin but were you were sincerely sorry and had no intention of committing that sin again, and asked for forgiveness, you would be forgiven by God.

But if you are sorry you sinned and ask for forgiveness and yet you go right out and commit the same sin again, it is not forgiven.

You ain't foolin' God if you sin but do not actually intend to refrain from commiting that sin again. And it doesn't matter whether you've accepted Jesus as your savior or not. You're not going to automatically be handed an insurance policy that gets you into heaven if in your heart and soul you do not have the right intentions.

Do you know how many times I committed the sin of gluttony in my life and afterwards was sincerely sorry for it? (7 X 77) meaning over and over, I can not count. Yet, each time God has forgiven me. (Thankfully, now, after the lapband surgery I no longer sin that sin.) The bible teaches that to recognize the fact that you are a sinner and are in need of a Savior is what's needed.

Matthew 18:21,22

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" 22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times

Luke 18:9-14

9To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: 10"Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee stood up and prayed about[a] himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

13"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' 14"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

God knows what is in your heart. I've known plenty of people who tried to impress with good deeds but they had black hearts. Some of them were ones who professed their faith the loudest.

True. You sometimes see this with TV evangelists who maybe started out with the right heart, but the fame and riches and lifestyle changes that took place from being popular may have gotten to them and their hearts turned against God. Or with people in your community who do the most wonderful things for others, but deep down, the reality is that they are doing it for themselves. Either the recognition they get for their kindness, or it makes 'them' feel good to be nice. Their motive is not for the 'other' person, but for glorifying themselves. Only God can know a persons inner motives.

I'm glad that our deeds do not determine our destiny, because if they did, noone would go to Heaven.

I believe that if Sarah Palin had been a man it would have been different. If this had been a man he would not have been condemned for an interview. Not trying to toot my own horn, but I think I am an excellent speaker, but catch me during the wrong time of the month or if I am sick, and you would think I could not speak at all. We are women, we go through so many emotions, and I am not a 100% at all times.

You've just promoted one of the arguments used by sexists to keep women "in their place" and that's that they are too emotional, can't function during their time of month, etc..

Sarah Palin was not caught off guard, she knew about and scheduled the interviews. And she came off as, well, stupid. And I think a man would have been criticized for it too. Bush was during his 8 years. He sure came off as stupid over and over again. There are books, posters, day to day calendars filled with his stupid sayings.

I said catch me during the wrong time of the month, does not have to be my period, unh huh, gotcha. I am a community leader, and I do a lot of dealings within my community, so the time of the month could mean anytime I am exhausted and worn out. We do a lot as mothers and women, you can not deny that.

Emotional does not mean we are not in control, for me it means that I have a heart and I do care. I am moved by the things that I see or hear, but not so emotional that I am not in control of them. However, I can see your point.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
