Significant weight loss can trigger gallbladder problems. Happened to me in the late 70s when I lost 100 pounds. Plenty of others on here have had the problem. Never heard how the surgery could affect your band though. It is performed in a similar manner, laprascopically, short duration surgery, quick recovery. I wonder if, perhaps, the surgeon is simply inexperienced when it comes to the band? I would talk to my band surgeon and, if necessary, refer the general surgeon to the band surgeon for further information.

Thanks Parrot however this IS the doctor that works with my Center where I had my lapband surgery, I failed to mention that the doctors (at the hospital) said once they open me with the gall bladder infected the infection will "attack" the forgein object which is the band, the surgeon I have chose followed up with the same info it's something they "have" to advise you but generally eveything will go text book though since I was given antibiotic in the hospital the infection from the stone causing the infection should be cleared up! So I am going in next week to get this out and hoping for a good recovery NO I am PRAYING for a good recovery!

The surgeon who banded me spent MANY years as a laproscopic surgeon, doing things like Gallbladders, appendix's, etc before becoming a bariatric surgeon several years ago... he STILL does gallbladders, etc... that's they kind of surgeon you need to take out your gallbladder... good luck...

Hello, I had lap band done on April 15th 2009. Needless to say I had my gallbladder removed last month on Septmeber 23rd. I was experiencing serve pain.. and I thought it was gas, needless to say I end up in the er on on Sept 7 to find out I had gallstones.. I thought I was going to die when I had these attacks.. My surgeon who did my lapband is also a gastro dr and he removed my gallbladder with no problem, band is perfectly fine, just how he placed it. I was very comfortable with him doing the surgery becasue he had taken care of my so good doing the lapband procedure. I would have been terrified if another dr would have had to perform that procedure. I'm went for my follow up on October the 8th and everything is fine, and received my 3rd fill on yesterday Oct 26th. Everything will be fine. I pray for a successful surgery.

Been there, done that. Banded June 5, 2008, gall bladder out Aug 8, 2008. My lap band dr also took out my gall bladder. I was very happy about that and felt confident going into that surgery since he also knew my band. He even used many of the same incisions. Recovery was a little rougher I think because it was so close to my lap band surgery. I really didn't have lots of pain but my stamina etc. took a long time to come back. Now a little over a year later, I am at goal, and recovering from knee replacement surgery. Three surgeries in a little over a year's time is enough for me! Good luck to you. Never heard about the band possibly having to come out though. Though I do remember my surgeon telling me that he checked out 'his handiwork' while he was in there and all looked good.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
