Just found out BCBS denied my request for Lap-Band stating it wasn't a medical necessity.

I'm going to call my surgeon in a few minutes to find out more details about it.

Actually, the ladies handling the Authorization and Scheduling were very nice and accommodating, even when I had bug them on the phone several times. They really try their best to get the authorization in yesterday so I wouldn’t have to reschedule.

I'm glad they were able to get me in so soon. Honestly, I’m a little tried of the protein diet.

That's great! Hopefully it's a sign of how good your aftercare will be too. I believe that good aftercare is the key to success with the band. Keep up with your appointments and fills and you'll do great!

Congrat junbug178 you have been through enough to get to this point good luck on your surgery next week. Let is know how it went for you.

It's disappointing, but don't give up hope. I was rejected in June, but my insurance company sent an apeals form with the rejection letter. In October, I filled out the form and wrote a letter to send with it, and I just found out that they approved me for the surgery on the appeal. Just keep trying. The office of the Center for Bariatric Surgery gave me a sample letter for the appeal, too.

My PCP is actually an ARNP. Yes, she works under a physician but I've never seen him. Should my PCP letter come from this ARNP, the physician she works under, or find another new one or use my OBGYN. Does anyone have a suggestion?

My personal opinion is have the one that knows you best ARNP - write the letter and then have them both sign it. An additional letter from your OB wouldn't hurt either.
