I got my approvel from my insurance company today and I am thrilled. Looks like a tenative date of nov 9.. I wish it was a little bit sooner, but thats ok. I am sure I will have lots of question as the date gets closer. this site has been great to read about the pros and cons. I have been doing my research on different types of surgeries for the past year. I have even watched the surgeries on line. A little about my self.. I'm am 49 and will be 50 in december. I have been married for 30 years to my high school sweetheart. I was a beanpole in high school and active in sports. I have 3 grown children all out of the house, 2 married. 2 grandchildren and one due in october. I have been a nurse for the past 18 years working a full time job, and for the past 5 years working a part time job as well. My husband is of average size and I feel like a fatty next to him. he has never complained about my weight but then he is visually impaired LOL. I have gained 85lbs the past 18 years. I am very active but have bad eating habits due to always being on the go. I am hoping with some will power and restriction I can get back in control of my weight. :)

Welcome to the site. Congratulations on your Approval and Surgery date. November will come before you know it. I know it will come fast because my birthday is in November and I will be 49 and it is coming fast.

I have been married for 29 years to a man who eats all day long and never gains a pound not in 29 years. He has gotten gray hair and some wrinkles but never gained any weight. I on the other had have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager. I have had a GREAT experience with the band so far I hope you have the same.

I have Grandbabies also both girls. One 3 years old and one 3½ months old, sisters. I only have one child, a son whom is a great young man and a lovely sweet daughter-in-law.

I hope times passes fast for you. But seems slow for me cause 49 is getting too close. Keep in touch!!

Just had my surgery on Thursday. Had a rough couple of first days and had to go the doctors last night and get some anxiety medication. He also gave me some medicine to keep me from getting sick. So this morning seems to be better, hopefully it will only get better from here. I have anxiety issues anyways so I was not surprised as to how I was feeling. I am just thinking that everyday will be better. I know how much I wanted this and I know in the end it will be worth it. Just a big adjustment. Goodluck to everybody else who is feeling the same way as me.

Thanks for replys, glad to hear that your surgery went well. I have changed my surgery date and procedure. I have been on the fence about which way to go and have changed my decision to the roux-n-y due to my addiction to the sweets. My will power is not that great that is why I have gained 80lbs in the past 18 years. I know this procedure has its own set of problems and life changes and my decision was not an easy one to make. I wish everyone the best in whatever choice they make. my Doctor thinks health wise and risk wise I would to well with either, but my sweets would get the best of me!! My new date will be Dec 3,,,

I am wondering now what my christmas meal will be like??? Oh well at least I still have Thanksgiving! I just keep thinking how good I will look next year at this time.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
