Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Hello all! I have an appointment Oct. 20th with my doctor and I will get my surgery date on that day. I was told by the office staff that it should be about two weeks from when I meet with him. Which means I will be a November 2009 Bandster. Anyone else out there yet with a prospective November surgery date? What are you going to do to kill time so you don't get too excited and jump out of your skin like I feel like I might!

Today is my surgery day! I am due in at 11:30 for all the poking and prodding! I should be in the surgery room at 12:30 and out by 1:15 if I go by the time schedule my doctor has told me.

Hurray! I have my bag packed as I am required to stay overnight. All is left is to gas up the car, drop the prescriptions off, take my son to the sitter and we are on the way.

I am still wowed about this as I never thought this day would arrive and here it is. So thank you all for the support and information.

I will post afterwards!

I had my surgery on the 9th too. I have never told anyone what I weigh, with the exception of my doctors and only when they really needed to know. Here goes:

Height: 5'10"

Consultation Weight: 385

Pre-Op Weight: 374.4

Current Weight: 365.7

Goal weight: 220

Barb, sounds like you and I are almost exactly the same. Same height, same weight. I know it's hard to admit, but we ARE doing something about it, so let's be proud!

Day #3 Post Op:

I'm feeling much better today thank god... It was AWFUL yesterday! UGH never wanna go through that again.

Yesterday night I took the dogs out for a brief walk to the mail center then when I got back home I was almost ready to puke but I didn't. Good thing I didn't because it wouldn't be good for me and the band. I still couldn't be able to sleep on the bed, because I was too sick, I was afraid I wld puke on the bed :) so I slept on the sofa's recliner til 7 am then I tried to get in the bed and it was a success. Slept for an hour and half then now I'm awake, drinking my breakfast Gatorade. And some of the liquid Tylenol for my pains on the incisions.

Now goal of today: drink 64oz of liquids.

Today I'm able to shower my full body with the incisions too.

Cheers!

im on preop diet now has anyone been experiencing ketosis. it's really gross haha but atleast i know im burning fat.

what is ketosis????????????? never heard of it

Ketosis is when your body no longer has energy from carbs to burn, so it begins to burn fat instead for energy, which causes "ketones" to form. It is common in high Protein, low carb diets, such as Atkins, and most of our lovely "pre op diets".

Sometimes, you will notice a change in your breath, or taste in your mouth. Sometimes sweat and urine smell different. Not necessarily bad, jsut different.

:) good luck to you I had my band Oct. 13 all is good you will do great I'm sure

great job looks like you are on your way

guys the ketosis is a good thing it means you're burning lots a fat which we want. The only bad thing is that the acetone is released in your saliva which makes it smell bad. My partner complained about it and now I carry orbit gum in my pocket. I've been doing a lot of walking around my campus but haven't been sweating a whole lot. I guess it's because I haven't been staying as hydrated as I should.

Hey Barbara!!

I had my surgery on Nov 6

Consult weight was: 256

Pre Op weight was: 246

My current weight: 239.... My "dream" weight is 150:blush:...I've been on liquid diets for a week and movin on to my full liquids...

This morning I felt a bit better, but then when I started to drink down the liquids, I started to feel the same way as I did yesterday- stuck. Felt like there was no air in my stomach, it made me nauseous & dizzy!

UGH anyone experiencing this too?

I am 10 days Post Op, and doing well... I have a massage appt and chiropractor appt tomorrow morning, have any of you close to the same preop out days tried to lay on your tummys? I am wondering if I should just have her do reflexology on me instead.
