  1. Hello all! I have an appointment Oct. 20th with my doctor and I will get my surgery date on that day. I was told by the office staff that it should be about two weeks from when I meet with him. Which means I will be a November 2009 Bandster. Anyone else out there yet with a prospective November surgery date? What are you going to do to kill time so you don't get too excited and jump out of your skin like I feel like I might!
  2. I was banded on 11/10 and have been on solid food since about a week out. Yes, that is what my doctor wanted. 1-2 liquid, 3-7 mushie, and then solids. Anyway, I have absoulutly no restriction and can eat as much as I use to and I hate it. I have stopped loosing weight and I am frustrated. The only difference in before surgery is that I stay full longer than I use to, but having no restriction and having to eat a lot to get full is really aggervating. I need a fill really soon. First fill not scheduled until next Tue, the 15th.
  3. Hi, I am a 29 year-old female who needs a buddy. I was banded yesterday (11/10/09) and I live in Alabama. I had about 100 pounds to loose pre-surgery diet, but lost 12 pounds and now have about 90 to go. Would really like a buddy who is seasoned and can help me and give me advice along the way, or even a someone who is around the same stage as I am and we can do this together. Thanks!
  4. I just bought the GoWear Fit band today and I can't wait for it to arrive here on Sat. (hopefully) Anyone already have it? Let me know your thoughts on it, or the bodybugg. It is my understanding they are made by the same company and basically the same product. I was banded two days ago so I am excited to get to use this arm band during the whole weightloss journey with my LapBand.
  5. I was banded on Nov. 10th. When I eat, I get a little bit of a tummy ache after just a little bit of food so I stop. I have also been worried that this ache meant that I was stretching my pouch. What do you guys think? I think some of the problem is the fact that my old habit of eating too fast has been really hard to break. I am trying to slow down though. Anyway, I get a slight stomach ache and then I stop eating. But, unfortunantly, within about and 1-2 hours I am really hungry again. I wish my food was staying with me longer. Sometimes, I feel like I am eating all day long and that scares me because I know we are really only supposed to eat like 3 meals. I am hoping after I get my first fill the food will stay with me longer. I have to say, not drinking anything with my meals is REALLY hard also.
  6. Thanks everyone for all the information. I am very excited and it should be here sometime today and I am itching to use it. I know it is going to give me that edge to help with the weight loss. After all knowlegde is power and this puts all the knowledge right in your hand, or on your arm I guess I should say!!! LOL I'll keep you updated when I get it on how much I like it.
  7. I know exactly what you mean. I think my doctor has been the most conservative of all the post op diets I have seen. The post op diet for us was Day 1 (surgery day) was clear liquids, Day 2-3 (Full Liquids), Day 4-5 Mushies, and then we are told to resume a normal high protein diet as soon as we can tolorate it. My surgery was Tuesday and today I have had oatmeal for breakfast, refried beans with melted cheese for lunch, and small pieces of well chewed chicken and green beans for dinner. Honestly, I feel great and my stomach does not feel bad or hurt in anyway. I just can't imagine how some people are required to be on the liquid post op diet for 2-4 weeks, and my doctor has us eating normal food by day 6.

    Hic-ups/burping

I was banded Tuesday and I get the hiccups. My doctor said it was normal because the hiccups come from the diaphram which is where all the extra gas is stored right now from during the surgery. He said it was good and it was a one way the body is releasing that extra gas.
  9. Hey everyone! I had my surgery on Tuesday morning and was home late Tuesday afternoon. Yesterday I was so suprised because I felt like a million dollars. Today, on the other hand, I feel horrible. I have had very little gas pain, thank goodness, but my port pain is awful. I feel like everytime I move I am being stabbed with a knife in my side. I can tell my stomach is very swollen internally as a very minimal amount of liquid fills me up so much that I feel like I have just eaten Thanksgiving dinner. I also had to have a hiatal hernia repair so that has added another demention to the pain. All in all, I will survive, but I will be honest, it is a lot tougher recovery than I was anticipating. Hang in there all those like me that have already got there band, and good luck to those of you who will be banded soon. If anyone ones has any questions on what to expect, feel free to ask.
  10. I was banded yesterday morning and per my doctor, we are allowed to start on full liquids today. According to him this is thin oatmeal, yogert, cream soup, SF pudding, ect. Anything that you can get through a straw (except dont drink it through the straw). Anyway, so I had some yogert cause my stomach felt hungry and I thought it would stop growling and make it feel better. But even after I had it, my stomach still has that hungry feeling. It also feels swollen and a little full feeling but hungry. I can't figure out if I need to eat more to make the uncomfortible feeling to go away, or if it is now full and uncomforitable, or if that is just the normal feeling one day following being banded. I know this sounds weird, but I am confused at what exactly my stomach ache is trying to tell me. Thanks in advance for any insite!

    hungry or full?

Thanks so much, I know what you mean, it is so hard to describe how it can feel like hunger and fullness at the same time. As I have sat here longer, I think it is starting to feel more like I am full (maybe to full like you said). It is just yogurt so I know that extreme full-ness wont last long as it will just slip right through. How do you know in the beginning how much you can and can't eat. I had a popcicle yesterday evening and after I felt like I had just eaten Thanksgiving dinner. I didn't expect to feel this restricted before I even had a fill.
  12. So my surgery is tomorrow morning. Tonight at 5pm I was told to drink 1 bottle of magnesium citrate and start my shots of Lovanox (a blood thinner). Did anyone else have to do this, and what should I expect. I am really worried about the magnesium citrate and was wondering how bad it will be. Thanks!

Help !! I need to find a surgeon in alabama

My Doctor, Dr. Robbins, in Dothan Alabama is wonderful. He is at Flowers Hospital and I would recommend him to anyone. He is very nice and his staff is incredible.
  14. Well guys, tomorrow is the big day! :tt1:This adventure has been a long time coming and I am sooooo excited. I have been on a low carb diet for 4 weeks and yesterday I started the liquid phase of my pre-surgery diet. I am soooo hungry that I think I could eat my dog if she smelled better!! :drool:This liquid phase of the diet is HELL and I can't wait for tomorrow to come. Tonight at 5pm I have to drink something to clear my bowels! YUCK! :crying:I am really really really dreading that, and I also have to give my self a shot of Lovanox. (it is a blood thinner to prevent blood clots). Has anyone here had to drink the Magnisium Calsitrate before or had to do the shots. If so let me know how it was. Thanks to everyone on this site for the support that has helped me get this far. I can't wait for everyone to share in my weight loss journey with me.:smile2:
  15. yes, I am on low carb (no more than 15 carbs per meal) to shrink my liver, and I have also been forcing myself to go to the gym to help burn excess fat and energy storage in my liver just to be on the safe side. I would die if he got in there and said he could not do it cause my liver was too fatty! I have a two day liquid diet two days before the surgury also. What about you? We need to keep in touch after we get done so we can see how each other is doing since we are on the same day!

  16. yes, thanks! Good luck to you as well. My surgery have been scheduled for 11/10/09. That is live 6 days away!!! OMG. When is your surgery?

  17. Wow, what amazing information. I was wanting to know if anyone new if a liver detox along with low carb would help shrink the liver any quicker?
  18. I got the official word today! My band will be be placed next Tuesday the 10th!! I think I might pee my pants I'm so excited! Now for the home stretch. A few more days on this horrible no carb diet and then the 2 days of liquid diet and I am home free. I also found out I have to give my self a shot the night before surgury of lovanox and also everyday for 10 days after my surgery! Ouch! Wont that be fun! Brit

    OMG it's in one week!

She said it was a medication to help prevent blood clots.
  20. Just got my official word this morning, my surgery is next Tuesday the 10th. OMG that is like a week away! I could not be more excited than I am right now! Thanks for all the support and good luck to all the November bandsters!! Brit
  21. went in today for my final appt with the doctor and will be called sometime tomorrow with my offical surgery date. I can't wait for that phone to ring. I am going to carry it with me all day, even to the bathroom. I am not going to miss that call! I suspect my surgury will be sometime the second week of November. Hopefully not the 9th since that is my sons birthday! Brit
  22. So my doctor requires a 2 week pre-op diet which I will need to start tomorrow. He did not say much about it other than no more than 15g of carbs per meal and trying to eat high Protein items. I guess I am just wondering what everyone else was eating to shring their liver before getting the band. I need ideas of things that are relativly easy. I am in nursing school and dont have alot of time to prepare meals. I was thinking about Meal Replacement shakes. Does anyone have any good suggestions for these or meal bars I can stick in my packpack that would fit within the above nutrition requirements. Any help on the subject would be much appreciated, and quick, as I have to start this tomorrow. Thanks!
  23. I guess you dont have a pre-op diet then? Have a Happy Early Thanksgiving!
  24. Hello all my fellow Nov. Bandsters. My pre-op is now set for Oct. 29th. And surgury will be Nov. 2nd as of now. I can't wait and am really starting to get excited.
  25. Well, I am required by my doctor to do a 4 week liver shrinking diet, so I will be starting that soon. I am still not sure exactly what day in Nov. my surgury will be so I am planning on starting the diet Oct. 1st just to be on the safe side. Besides that, I am a nursing student so that keeps me busy studying all the time, and I have two small children also. What about you guys? Any thought yet on what your last yummy meal might be?
