  1. sip your liquids slowly... also if you are stressed out the band may feel tighter. I have experienced this. wicked. Try to relax and rest. If you have like the stitch in your side like when you run feeling you know what I mean... then you are too full . take it easy be patient with yourself and the band. once the swelling subsides you will be fine HOWEVER having the dry heaves etc will inflame it again so take it easy ok.

    Band as second choice?

I chose the band over the others because it is adjustable and reversable... the other surgeries are not. seems as though the other complications are more serious. We are all different so why not have something that can be customized to your needs and lifestyle changes? We are always evolving, and we don't all have the one size fits all body.. for me the flexibility of the band and not permantly altering the plumbing were a big sale for me. It has been a year and I am so pleased with my choices, not only with my band but with my surgical team. good luck in what you choose.

    So emotional today

    hang in there Melissa, Emotional times after being banded is a normal reaction. Not only for banding but any surgery. You are also mourning the loss of food, your own comfort and your old habits. it is a big change, lifestyle , emotional etc. Hang in there and weather the storm. Just like any addiction there is a withdrawal period etc. You will be fine, there are many great peeps out here to encourage you, advise you and be a shoulder to lean on. I was banded almost a year ago, It has been quite a journey. Keep a journal of your food, and your emotions and how you feel daily. learn about yourself and learn new ways to conduct your daily life. You may have to make some new friends that will encourage you and stand for you during your journey. I have ZERO regrets taking this huge step, anyone who has been a skeptic of my choice now admires me since I am living the life I want doing what I have passion for. Never would I have persued my dream if not for losing this weight. {{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}

Why do men prefer bad girls?

when they want to play it is with the bad girls that are easy... they want to settle down and be serious with the good girls.

November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

Wow I can't believe we are just shy of a year already. It is amazing and what an incredible journey. I still have 20 - 25 more to lose. I am fairly comfortable where I am and I do see I have gained muscle so that is a good thing. need to work out a bit to get rid of the rest. so I may not meet a numbers goal but I will be healthy and fit. Dr office is calling me a success story and I have changed so much in my life. I would say a lot of healing has happened in the last year, and I do not regret making this choice at all. I am pleased with the results and myself! ha ha I should update my photo!

    What to do about clothes...

I have made it a habit of purging the closet on a regular basis.. throwing away or donating. I buy inexpensive clothing now as things change rapidly... oh and a good belt for my jeans

    How often do you vomit/PB?

Ok an addendum to any other post on this thread.... I Only PB or vomit when I am stressed. Occasionally I eat too quickly when I am extra hungry and it will happen too, howevr that is extremely rare. I have only 5.75 cc in my band. It appears that I only have problems in the evening... dinner.... only when DH is home... day time I wait for him to leave for work before I eat Breakfast and all is well. I am on the eve of this relationship and I have come to the realization that this is just another thing it is doing to me. That and I am at a standstill. I think once I break away I will lose that last 20 perhaps more. I am trying to finish my schooling first... Feb 11 since I am not working. It gets increasing more difficult to hang on. I do know it is in my best interest to do that though.
  13. I feel like when that happens it is the port and the stitching into my muscles because it is sewn there under the muscle... however last night I had a sharp pain cuz I did over eat.

    Im still "THINKING" FAT

Jachut, I look at what others have on their plates and I am astonished... even more fun is checking out the grocery carts at the supermarket and looking at the people pushing them. Then glancing into my own cart seeing ...wow ... life has changed! I am so grateful for how far I have come. Also the desire to do better still.

    Im still "THINKING" FAT

I feel it too... I go shopping and I can shop from any area of the Kohls, and so many choices... I am overwhelmed and cannot choose! Some one compliments the change in me and I have a hard time accepting it. I am having a hard time with my brain catching up with my body. I still see myself as the "big girl" How do I wrap my mind around my body? I never thought this part would be so hard!
  16. I want better than average too. working on it ... I will acheive!.... I find my mental self gets more in the way than anything else. It is definately a journey. I don't have that much saline in my band, enough to where when I am stressed it is tighter so I can not indulge in the stress times... which is where I really need it. I am trying so hard to use my head the majority of the time.

    Unfu$%ing believable!!!

Thank you for posting. I believe if I am not wrong there was a mosque on the lower levels of one of the towers... At the same token the Mosque is not being built at ground zero but near it. and yes Muslims are Americans too! Don't judge Islam by a few radicals lest you be judged yourselves. I myself am a Muslim convert, a preachers kid no less, Bible Major in college even. I feel Statements like that do nothing more than cultivate hate and mistrust. Typically people who make derogatory marks concerning Muslims or Islam are uninformed or mislead... Shall we all judge the Catholic Church by the indescrection of some priests... and I could go on and on group by group. Time to create dialog and foster some compassion and understanding between people and faiths.

    Eating Habits - Be Honest.

1500 is a good number for me , as I do not work out. I have become a massage therapist and burn calories doing that some times I come out of a session feeling like I could eat someones leg off... those days i adjust my calories accordingly... If I want to lose I can not go above 1100 . 1500 is a great maintaining # for ME.

    Very pissed Off!!!!!

don't fret you made the right decision for you... people wonder why I didn't do the bypass... quite simple I didn't want to have the malabsortion problems or dumping issues that come with it... I didn't want to permanently alter my "plumbing" What if some thing changed in my life that required a different life style... what if something went wrong.... you can take the saline out later to attempt at self control if you choose... you can remove the device if something happens and it is needed.... Gastric Bypass is forever. The best way to show your doubting public is to have massive healthy success! So GO for IT! reclaim YOUR life! The band is the BEST choice I ever made... I am so pleased with my choice.. it is not a magic solution we still have to work but the team I have behind me is wonderful! I am blessed!

    Eating Habits - Be Honest.

I have learned that when I am NOT logging my food I eat about 1500 cal a day... I do not gain but I do not lose.... If I am logging I eat 1100 cal a day and I lose... then I go back to my 1500 I maintain. I do my best NOT to eat processed foods. I do my best to keep a couple of servings of protein powder in my back for those just in case days. Oh and I eat greek yogurt not yoplait or any of those... I need the enzymes.
