Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Hello all! I have an appointment Oct. 20th with my doctor and I will get my surgery date on that day. I was told by the office staff that it should be about two weeks from when I meet with him. Which means I will be a November 2009 Bandster. Anyone else out there yet with a prospective November surgery date? What are you going to do to kill time so you don't get too excited and jump out of your skin like I feel like I might!

im new to the site! my surgery is scheduled for Nov 30th! Im super excited but nervous at the same time... My dad is being extra "supportive" (sarcasm intended) his only response to me was "wow Nov 30th... what about Christmas Dinner??"... like I really need another big unnecessary meal....:smile2:....

LOL oh well luckily I have a super supportive husband and wonderful friends and co-workers... wish me luck!! :)

Welcome, and congratulations on your new journey. This is a great place for a lot of info in regards to LB WLS, but always call your surgeon when it comes to the medical questions.

The 30th will be here before you know it, so be sure to check back here often to help make time go by a wee bit faster reading all the posts. One good one to check out for all that are waiting for thier day to come is:

I was banded November 3rd, and I think I am doing very well.

The first two days were not the best, my back hurt from laying around so much.

Every day has gotten better and I feel pretty good now. I just have a little tightness and pain in the area but I am able to get around just fine.

I work from home, so I work a few hours and rest. I am walking and climbing stairs and everything.

My incisions are doing great, the "superglue" has held on all of them except the one in my bra area. I just slapped a bandaid on that one.

I think my surgeon must have done a very good job with pushing the gas out of me, because I did not have any of the gas pains in my arms, neck, whatever.

I was lost 8.5 lbs post-surgery, and I have stuck totally to the 2 oz of yogurt, applesauce, cream of wheat. I have not been hungry one time.

Can anyone tell me how to get that ticker?

Here you go! Just follow the directions and you will have your ticker in no time. First choose your ticker and continue from there.

I might not be a November bandster : ( I was scheduled to have surgery tomorrow (nov.10th). But my bloodwork came back abnormal again. So now I have to see a hematologist to see what the problem is. I am upset and a little scared. I will be going to work tomorrow : ( I was so ready. Oh well. It is what it is.

Hello! All

I had my band done October 13, it went well I lost 23 lb so far and go back on November 17th to get my band tightend I seem to be doing good and I work out 2 days a week it is a big start for me and I wish you all luck and success enjoy the new you and it is all worth it

Melloways...soooo sorry. My husbands band was postponed because of bad blood work too. Turned out it was one of the medications he was on and once he stopped he was OK. What test was abnormal? My husbands was sodium and that can really mess with your heart. Now 3 weeks later hes banded and his sodium level is normal. They just had to switch his meds.....maybe thats what will happen to you?

I have a band date of Nov. 19. I'm freaking out but truly feel I'm making the right decision. How are you all dealing with it? Jitters? Excitement?

Rachel

Hi there! I am a November bandster as well. My surgery is scheduled for November 23rd the Monday of Thanksgiving week. I will be missing my Mom's wonderful cooking but the end goal is worth it! I have been doing my practice diet for 4 weeks now. I start the pre-surgery liquid diet on Nov. 13. Can anyone tell me what protein shakes are good and won't leave an after taste? I have tried Muscle Milk so far, blah! So good to know there are so many others like me out in the world. I am so excited yet scared at the same time. Two more weeks for me before the plunge!

Hi Melloways,

All the best with your blood tests so that you can have your operation as scheduled.

I'm having some uppper arm pains- both arms l'm taking pain killers now for it.

Besides that l'm doing OK

I, for one, keeping coming to this site to see if anyone else is as freaked-out as me!

The proteins in my blood are elevated, which could mean anything. And he's concerned about my anemia. I should be able to find out the details after wed. When I see the hematologist. I don't take any meds. Just been on this pre op liquid diet for the past two weeks. Which I don't feel is so healthy.

welcome aboard!! what pre-op diet do u have to be on?

I know the feeling abt being banded around the holidays... it's better to lose those holiday lbs instead of gaining them!!!

Good luck on your journey!!! :)

In less than 3 hours I will be ready to go into surgery. My doctor only reccommended that i started the liquid diet yesterday so Yahooo. I bought some vegetarian broth and tried it almost gagged from it but I downed it like a trooper, my dh and daughter have been supported when I was about to give in to temptation after surviving 1 day I know I can do this.

Looking forward to the mushy stage of the process Ha ha and trying to find a different protein shake to taste, I bought slimfast on accident so im going to have to get some better than that lol

I hope all goes well with the rest of you and we start our new journeys together :)

Yay! hope yours went okay! let us know :)

I started my liquid diet today - IT SUCKS!! I had jello for breakfast and chicken broth for lunch... dinner will be the same lol

I use low carb slim-fast choco and blend it with 1/2 c of milk and some ice and 1 or 2 TB of peanut butter in blender. it's YUMMY! try it sometime this week. :)

I need to buy the protein shake scoop by MaxMuscle- they have 30g of protein, 120 cal, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 1g fat. they're awesome too.

good luck and take care!!!:tongue2:
