  1. Looking into the band was a blessing! Not only to lose weight but we would have never known about the cancer and liver until it was too late. God blessed us tremendously by leading me to look into this. I appreciate the support. It helps tremendously!
  2. Thank you! The future is brighter especially once I can eat normal again. Or should I say once I feel like I can go out in public and eat again. I'm trying to be creative but it's not working. The hubby does not seem to understand what's mushy and not. I figured he'd catch on since he went to my post-op appt. with me. Any recipes you would like to share?
  3. Hey guys and gals! I was supposed to be banded Nov. 19th but there was a big change in plans. While proceeding with the band we discovered I had renal cell carcinoma on my left kidney and something on my liver. The surgery was post-poned until all doctors could meet. The surgery for partial kidney removal was on Dec. 16 and we were able to schedule the liver biopsy and band at the same time. I got a 3-fer! Boy was I in some pain. Pretty much all procedures were on the same side. I now have 10 beautiful holes where all the "digging" and "poking" was done. Lapband was a blessing in disguise for me. I have my post-op with the urologist on Jan. 5th. The doctor called to tell me that the pathology reports came back and he did get it all. Yah!!!! The liver is still in question but will be seeing the doctor soon to find out what more we need to do. As far as hunger, I hit that on day 6 post-op. Didn't feel hungry until that day. Thank God I had a post-op with the Lapband doc the next day and was moved up to mushies. Woohoo! Doing pretty good so far. This recovery is taking longer than I anticipated. I'm ready to be 100% and I know I will be soon! Keep your chin up and remember, you are NOT alone!
  4. It helps to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. The surgery part concerns me too. I've never had surgery so I do not know what to expect. Hospitals give me the creeps. Everyone that has been to Dr. Marvin just loves him so I know I'm in good hands.:tongue_smilie: I'll do fine until I get to the hospital. They may have to give me some good stuff ASAP to keep me from running out the door!
  5. How did you surgery go yesterday? Mine's the 19th and I have the jitters.:tongue_smilie:
  6. I have a band date of Nov. 19. I'm freaking out but truly feel I'm making the right decision. How are you all dealing with it? Jitters? Excitement? Rachel
  7. Hey Nicole! Congratulations on being banded. I'm so scared but am going through with my appointments. I believe I will find out in 2 weeks if my insurance is approved. How did everything go with the surgery? Were you sore? Did you have any problems? Sorry for so many questions but like I said, I'm scared.
  8. I'm no barbie and don't care to be either. My curves are what makes me, well, me. =) I have only considered the band. The other two procedures seem far to evasive for me. Good luck Friday! I look forward to hearing how everything goes and how you felt each step of the way.
  9. I have an appt. Thurs. for my first consultation and will tell you that I am nervous as all get out! The idea of having something foreign in my body scares me, any complications scare me. Does anyone have any thoughts or words of encouragement? I'm sick of being a "big" girl but scared of the procedure.
  10. Food Network rocks and I know what you mean about HGTV. My husband hates it when I watch b/c I end up with new ideas. Trust me, not the best idea!
