Today is my day #2 of the pre-op diet.

IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WARNING- TMI but;

I got so sick this morning, with diarrhea and then after dinner I threw up. :( what's going on!?

I'm thinking maybe my stomach doesnt settle too well with slimfast optima shakes? I've had them before- I was just fine with it.. now I'm not?

I am struggling with the hunger! I bought kellog's Protein tea mix, it tastes good! but it hasnt really helped with the hunger.

I'm going in for a "revision" surgery :huh2:on Nov 5th.. so does that make me a November Bandster?

I originally had mine in Sept 07. Overall, happy with it, but bummed that my band slipped. I had a couple bouts of vomitting (really bad reflux @ night too), and I think that's how the band slipped. Doc said there is really no way to know how it happened.

Hi MiaBlue,

I am being banded on 27 Nov with Dr Chris, how is prep going? JB

Hi JB,

what prep? you have me worried now. I have asked about a pre-op diet diet but have not been advised as yet. As soon as I hear anything I will let you know. How you feeling, excited, nervous? I am already struggling with sleeping now, I think it is both of the aforementioned things. I just keep trying to imagine my body in 1 years time and it makes me smile. Speak soon.

went in today for my final appt with the doctor and will be called sometime tomorrow with my offical surgery date. I can't wait for that phone to ring. I am going to carry it with me all day, even to the bathroom. I am not going to miss that call! I suspect my surgury will be sometime the second week of November. Hopefully not the 9th since that is my sons birthday!

Hi November Bandsters: Rambler here, writing my first post. My surgery date is Wednesday, November 4th, less than a week. Can't wait. I'm a week in for my pre-op diet. Slim Fast Low Carb shakes and sugar-free Carnation Instant Breakfast, along with lots of Crystal Lite and sugar-free Jell-O.

Fortunately, I'm not at all hungry, although I'm pretty tired of the sweet taste from the shakes. Unjury chicken Soup is okay, but I feel kind of bloated after 8 ozs.

Best to all who are starting their journey this month and just think how absolutely fabulous we're all going to look by this time next year.

Hi Everyone - My name is Rae. I guess I am joining the group for November bandsters too. I am to be banded on November 9th. I have been in the process now since June 24th which was my first day that I met with my surgeon. Pretty exciting news the day they said that I was approved. Good Luck to all of you!!

Well it looks like I will be joining you all in the November bandsters. I am looking at a Nov 16th surgery date. I have been lurking in the forums and wishing and dreaming for about 8 years. I am so excited and scared all at the same time. I am 6 ft tall and weigh 361 pounds at my first dr visit about 3 weeks ago. I so looking forward to feeling like I did 15 years ago. Good Luck you all This is the first month of the rest of our lives

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
