Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

awww poor Kirby. My dog Coco was also limping on three legs awhile back and after x-rays we were told she has severe athritis and a torn ligament. She was put on a strict diet and we excersice her and her condition has improved. She walks fine now, no limp. Vet said she does not need surgery anymore.

I slept very badly last night. I woke up around 3am because i heard something. A noise or a knock or something. I got up to look around, check all the doors and nothing. But then of course I couldn't go back to sleep. I finally dozed off around 545am but then woke up late for work.

My company is struggling right now. We are trimming corners left and right. My boss offered us the option of going to a three day work week for the rest of the year for reduced pay. That means that I have time to go and help my mom with her business during her busy season. I'm so happy!!! Well not about the company's bleak outlook but for the fact that this flexibility has opened up for me....

Hello everyone . . . I had a crazy day today. We went from 46 to 39 employees with layoffs. We used to have more than 150 people only two short years ago. I really hope business picks up soon.

I also got a fill. 1 more CC which brings me to 12CC in a 14CC band. I can already tell that I am not at my sweet spot and need more. It is crazy that my band needs to be just about filled to capacity in order to work.

Everyone have a nice night.

Good evening, Violets...

What a day this has turned out to be. Kris came over with Grady and we went out to lunch together. When we got back I went to Walmart to get a couple of things before the storm and to pick up our Christmas photos.. they turned out great!! Now to type out the letter to go with the picture.

When I got home Bob was on the phone with Jen and told me we needed to get over there right away because she had fallen down the basement stairs. She didn't think she broke anything, but had been at the bottom of the stairs for about an hour. She thought she knocked herself out, but wasn't sure. Ethan was roaming around the house upstairs, coming to see her every now and then and saying.. Are you ok, Mommy?...

We got right over there and I helped her up the stairs. She was really in pain so Bob took Ethan home and I took Jen to the ER. We were there almost 2 hours. X-rays turned out negative for breaks. Just severe bruising. They gave her a pain shot and a Valium. She was in a gooooooood mood when it was time to go home. I doubt that she works tomorrow. We will get Ethan first thing in the morning for the day. So much for today being a day to ourselves....

I sat in the waiting room with the "people from Walmart" and two hip hop wanna be's complete with jeans down below their butt, baseball hats sideways and hoodies....perfect for northern Michigan..

The storm is supposed to start tonight at 10 and we are supposed to get 10+ inches. We shall see. My Godson texted me to ask what I thought about there being a snow day tomorrow. I'm the resident snow day predictor. I told him no school tomorrow or Thursday. Hope I'm right!!

Off to watch NCIS and then read a little and wait for the storm.

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well.

Good Morning, Girlies...

I got an early Xmas gift yesterday... a new cell phone! Splurged on the new "droid", the Verizon version of the iphone! Talk about a lot to learn! Last night the 1.5 hrs @ soccer flew by as I played w/it... I can get on the Web and even came here, but I couldn't log in to post for some reason, just read. I've still got a lot of learnin' to do with it! But I love that I have everything w/me... e-mail, calendar, I can text, games, apps... yay!

We've got a weird snow/ice/rain combo happening here... I'm planning on staying inside 'til tonight, when, if it's not cancelled, dd is performing in the school's Winter concert... she's in all the groups performing: band, jazz band, and chorus!

Janie: The job is screaming... are you hearing it?

Pam: Beautiful! Love your mountain!

Judy: How frightening! I'm glad she's ok. Sounds like an entertaining time @ the ER! :)

Haydee: All my good thoughts w/your family!

Heather: Good luck w/the fill. What business are you in?

Tracy: Hi! Hope all is well!!

Enjoy Wednesday!

Good evening, Violets..

We got dumped on with snow and wind last night. All schools in the area were closed and I cancelled choir. Ethan stayed home with Joe, so Bob and I had the day to ourselves. I started the Christmas cards and did a little laundry. I have not even gotten dressed today!! I'm still coughing and wish I could get rid of it.

Jen is doing better today. She went in to work, but came home when the boss came in. She was in a lot of pain and needed to rest today so he sent her home, thank goodness.

Joe works tomorrow so we'll have Ethan for the day. I have a flute rehearsal and that's it for the day. Not sure what the weather will be, but we're supposed to ge some more snow and wind tonight.

Haydee.. so glad to hear your dad's alright.

Off to fix some leftovers for supper.. ribs, potatoes and onions and sweet and sour red cabbage.. a repeat from last night.

Everyone have a good evening. Glee and modern family on tonight!!!

Forgot to tell you...remember last July when I told you one of my former students was accidently shot and killed by his cousin? Josh was 16 years old when he died. Well, his 17 year old sister died today from cystic fibrosis. What a sad, sad Christmas this will be for this family. I had both Josh and Jessica in Kindergarten. Great kids.

I'm in a mood and don't really want to go into it. Just happy to read all your stories! Tomorrow will be better for me, I'm sure.

Maybe I should go peruse the People of Walmart site?? That should help cheer me up!!

Good morning,Violets..

School is closed here in Alpena, but my former school in Mio isn't. Those were the days I used to dislike the most... when I had to drive 62 miles to school when the school right here was closed. I'm so thankful I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I have a flute rehearsal this morning. Hope all 4 of us can make it in. The side roads are really icy. We didn't get any more snow, but the slush all froze so it's a mess. Bob went out last night and shoveled the mess the grader pushed into our driveway so we're ahead of the game on that for the time being.

Ethan will be here all day today. Our son who lives 7 hours away will be coming up to Kris's house for the weekend so he can hunt with Nathan. We are going out to dinner together tomorrow night and then Kris and I are making pasties Saturday for Josh's birthday party. My baby will be 34 on the 16th.... yikes!!!!!!

Off to spike up my hair and get dressed. Everyone have a wonderful day..

Haydee... hope your dad is doing well today. Hugs to you and your family..

Morning girls~

I woke up at 4:27 and did I go to the gym???? NNNOOOOO! I laid there and worried about work.

I am glad to be going back to work, except the books I am supposed to start teaching with, are not barcoded yet. I had to pick them up from the warehouse yesterday, run them to the library...and it is spelling bee day, so I wont get them until later.

I have way too much on my mind w/ the party tomorrow, work, blahblahblah.

Haydee, that is WONDERFUL news. Keep us posted...

I will hopefully be mailing out my Secret Santa gifts this Sat. or by Monday. One of the gifts I bought long ago...and now just need one more thing.

OK...pop in later!

xoxoxo

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
