Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Good evening, Violets..

Quiet again today in here. That's the weekend for ya.

We had a nice, relaxing day today. Went to Walmart and got a few things and had lunch with Kris, Nathan and Grady. Came home and got the Christmas picture taken and then sent it in to Walmart to be made into cards. I still need to get my Christmas letter done with all the highlights of the past year so everyone who gets a card can read it and yawn a bit. :w00t:

It got up to 28 degrees today,no snow at all. Wonder when we'll get some that will stick on the ground... not that I'm asking for any yet!!! But sure would be nice to have some on the ground for Christmas. Last year at this time we had 15 inches on the ground already.

I'm mailing out my Secret Santa gift on Monday.. wooooo hoooooo!!

Off to work out on the glider for a half hour and then place some games on Facebook. Everyone have a good evening!!

Good Evening!!

Thanks Pamela for your bit of trivia knowledge, I LOVED making Charlie eat his words, but he didn't and was kind of pissy all day about it!! I still loved it though!!

Michelle I am with you about the food, I want something good!!!

Nothing on agenda tomorrow and Monday I have a dentist appointment! I think I will go to a casino here and see about a gift card for my nephew who is turning 21!!

Sweet (but lo cal) dreams.............

Did I mention that my nose is running and I am on my second period in a month? What do you think, possibly my hormones are playing tricks?????????

Michelle, I hope your Husband is getting the meds that he needs for his back it to heal and be happy for the holidays!!

Good evening, Violets..

What a day. I just got up from an hour nap. I was up early this morning and did my church thing, then we went to lunch and then I had a concert with the symphony. It went very well. I got home at 5, we had some homemade veggie Soup and then I crashed.

The goooooood news is.... the Bobster had put in an application for an interim position at the Presbyterian church about 40 minutes away. There were 32 applicants and after preaching there twice last month, he was the unanimous choice!!!! Soooooooooo he soon will be working once again doing what he loves.. preaching and taking care of a church as they search for a new pastor. If it was not for my best friend, the organist at my church here, I would be done Jan. 1... but I can't do that to her so I will stick it out till June, but then I am definitely done, done, done with choir directing and being in a different church than Bob each Sunday.

Michelle....how is DH?????? Hope he got some relief.

Janie..did you try a cold pack on your knee??? Congrats on the weight loss!!!

Today during the concert, I was standing on a riser for about a half hour and my bum knee locked up. I had to step slowly off the riser when we were done. I looked like a little old lady...............oh wait.......I IS!

I've been coughing a lot this evening.. Hope it doesn't get worse. I have too many musical events coming up in the next few weeks. Can't afford to be without a voice!

Off to watch Desperate Housewives... wooo hoooooo..

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well.

Hey Girls~

been grading papers and watching football. I am still in the beginning-ish of the book Judy...don't have the time to read w/ all my tv shows. I am working on it!

Judy and Janie, hope the knees are mending...don't realize how much we need 'em until they are not working.

Michelle...word on dh's back. We didn't hear from you...is he ok?

OK..off to grade more and listen to Sus say bad words when Arizona drops the ball!

Good evening!!

Knee is MUCH better!! I am amazed!

Hoping to hear from Michelle soon about her husband.

One of these days I will learn to write dh or ds or dd.

Judy you are NOT old!!!!!

Pamela I agree what with good tv shows I don't have time to read much. I read in a magazine I think people about Glee going off the air and he compared the dark haired girl to Adam Lambert on drugs. But, it really was a compliment!

Good Monday Morn, Girlies~~

I meant to report back yesterday, but the day got away from me... sorry!

DH got 3 different meds for his back: a pain killer (that makes him giggle), a steroid zip pack, and a muscle relaxer. Both ER & doc have been assuming that it's a pinched nerve-type thing, but no tests to confirm that (v. a slipped disc or something). He's going to call his ortho today for an app't. He can't drive, so he's home today at least. Poor guy.

Last night was the HS soccer banquet. DS received his varsity letter & pin, which we knew he earned. He also was awarded with the "Rookie of the Year" plaque AND was voted by the other Region coaches as the Honorable Mention Goalkeeper for the all-state team! As a sophomore! That's the 3rd in the state in our division! Quite an achievement for a 14yo (he's 15 now, but was 14 during the season). So proud!

The vet comes today for the cats' annual check-up... wish Mo luck!

I caught the end of Desperate Housewives, Judy -- now there's something you don't see every day! Yay to Bob on the position -- of course they liked him the best!

You got a Snuggli, Pam -- so funny! My kids like to say, "It's just a backwards bathrobe!"

Janie, glad your knee is feeling better!

Hi Laura & Haydee!!

Make it a great day, everyone!

Good morning~

We are under STORM WATCH 2009 again. Gonna be 58 today and rain an inch...and the first 15 min of the news is all about the storm. It is pretty funny actually. Not the storm but the way ppl in so cal react to the storm. In LA area, where there were bad fires, there is the chance for mud slides, which is not funny.

Hope it is nice by Friday. I am having a little holiday party. I've invited about 8-9 lesbian couples over for cocktails and appetizers. Going to make terriacki (sp) chicken, egg rolls, (and maybe one other hot food) chips and salsa, maybe a beandip. Also, going to start chipping away at all that tequila I got for graduation (I got like 4-5 bottles of good stuff). Making margies, beer, wine, gin and tonics...can any violets make it? Even if your not a lesbian...YOU ARE ALL WELCOME! Got the house decorated...and now I am going to work on my iPod play list for the party (we just plug it into the Bose system).

I graded 24 papers last night!!! I am 46% done w/ the Wally Lamb book (lol, don't know what page, but that is the tracker at the bottom of the page) and I love it! The mother just got back from California...haha!

Judy, hope the knee is better...what is up w/ that cough?

Jane,glad your knee is better!

Michelle, I sent you a text late last night...glad to hear dh will be on the mend soon. Congrats to your son...you must be sooo proud (hell, I am proud and I've never met him)

Laura and Haydee...what up?

Heather and Susie...what up?

I am looking forward to going back to work today (remind me I said this later). I missed my kids!

I'll pop later...everyone have a great day!

oh FUN! I love KC and the sunshine band! They are a good dancing band! You will have so much fun!

Our weather people go crazy here too for little changes in the weather. Anytime it's going to be a little bit more colder than usual or for instance like Friday when it snowed a little it was weather all morning long on the local channels...

We got to go home early early Friday. Like at noon! Because it was snowing. But by the time I got home it had stopped, LOL. And this morning my boss told me he got in trouble with the big boss because he let us go home early and by 1PM the snow had stopped and the sun had come out. We had a beautiful sunset that day, LOL. Oh WELL.

I had a very restfull weekend. I meant to do the tree and the lights and clean and do laundry and we said eff it. We pulled the mattress off the guest room bed and put it in the middle of our living room. Turned the fireplace on and snuggled in front of the tv with the dogs and tons of blankets. We got up for a few hours to attend a party on Saturday night but came home around 9pm and put a movie on and got right back into bed.

Finally yesterday around 8pm, we got our lazy asses up and put the bed back and put the house into some semblance of order. But it was fun and relaxing and very restfull. We both needed it. Juan's been so sick and hasn't been able to get better because he's just always on the go.

Tonight I'm meeting some friends that i've had since high school and we are going to do our little Christmas dinner and gift exchange. So excited. Love these girlies but don't get to see them very often because everyone is so busy!

Typical monday here. Kinda blah outside. A little chilly. Tons of work just like always. I'm so ready for May!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
