lap band menus

Recommended Posts

I am new to lapband surgery - only 3 months out. I would appreciate any assistance with daily menus. I need some idea of what types of foods are best for the most weight loss.

Protein first. Good carbs after. Starch only if you've a bit of room left. Small bites, chew like crazy, follow Portion Control. Stick to 3 meals a day, drink all your Water, and add exercise when and where you can.

Star Kist Seasations are good. I make one of those and put it over a cup and a half of mixed salad add a bit of oil and vinegar. Fish is about your best Protein choice, chicken and turkey after that. Other meats only some of the time, and avoid 'lunchmeats'.

There are tons of suggestions in the nutrition forum. You'll do great!

I eat a lot of meals of chicken salad with Fat Free mayo. Sometimes scrambled eggs. I am drinking some Protein bullets because it is to hard to get all my Protein in.

Hit 'Home' at the top of the page, then just go down the list of forums until you see the nutrition one....I'm sure there's an easier way, but that's how I do it .

Don't forget to not drink anything for an hour before or an hour after eating.

Breakfast .... If I'm in a hurry, a Protein shake. Otherwise, Greek yogurt, low fat cottage cheese (which I happen to love), scrambled eggs, low fat cheese

lunch .... low fat Soup with cheese and some whole grain crackers; salad with chicken, black Beans, low fat cheese and low cal dressing; leftovers from dinner the night before.

dinner .... Last night, baked chicken, peas, a little stuffing; night before, chicken dipped in an egg wash and coated with a little crushed French's onions and baked, with mixed veggies; baked fish with half a baked potato and a vegetable (everybody in my house enjoys this meal, so we have it regularly, just changing the type of fish and vegetable).

Like they all said, Protein first. I ate alot of Egg salad and cottage cheese. I even put the cottage cheese on my lettuce salad for extra protein. You can cut down on the amount of Salad Dressing that way also.

I have also added tuna to my egg salad, made it about half and half. VERY Good protein. Canned chicken works well to.

Lots of veggies and tried to stay way from the Pasta, rice, potatos.

Now that I am almost where I want to be, I eat either fish or chicken with a salad at work every night "work 10:30p to 7a" during the week. eat a sincible other meal and then splurge on one thing over the weekend.

Eat alot of baked Walmart bagged chicken breasts, alot of pork and ground turkey instead of beef.

You can get real creative, focus on what you can have instead of what you should not have.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
